ATLANTA, GA — Verizon Wireless will culminate their season-long effort to bring Georgia’s military families closer to loved ones overseas by donating $15,000 to Operation Homefront Georgia during halftime at the December 27 game against the New Orleans Saints. The grant, given through the Verizon Foundation, will support Operation Homefront Georgia’s REACH project, which helps provide crisis intervention assistance and counseling for military families at Ft. Benning.

As part of the halftime “Salute to the Armed Forces,” 30 members from each of the five branches of the military will march in formation, giveaways will be parachuted into the crowd and shout-outs from Falcons players to the troops will be broadcast on the stadium’s big screen.

“We are proud to support Operation Homefront Georgia’s tireless work on behalf of Georgia’s military families,” said Jeff Mango, president – Georgia/Alabama Region, Verizon Wireless. “The daily sacrifices these families make as their loved ones protect and serve our great country often go unrecognized, and to them we offer our deepest gratitude.”

“Verizon Wireless has been a notable supporter of our efforts throughout the year,” said Kim Scofi, Executive Director of Operation Homefront Georgia. “This generous donation from the Verizon Foundation is already being put to good use helping local families. We thank Verizon Wireless and the Atlanta Falcons for putting a much-deserved spotlight, tonight and throughout the season, on the Armed Forces and their loved ones.”
