BASKING RIDGE, NJ — From the 2011 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Ericsson is partnering with Verizon Wireless to demonstrate two innovative solutions on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE Mobile Broadband network.

"As a primary infrastructure provider for Verizon Wireless' 4G LTE Mobile Broadband network, Ericsson is developing solutions that will take advantage of the increased speed and low latency of 4G networks," said Angel Ruiz, president and chief executive officer, Ericsson North America. "Both of these solutions use Ericsson Mobile Broadband Modules and are based on ST-Ericsson platforms, highlighting our unique position as an end-to-end supplier in the LTE ecosystem."

The two solutions being demonstrated at CES are:

  • Ericsson Converged Workspace — Ericsson is collaborating with the Verizon Wireless LTE Innovation Center on a converged workspace solution for small businesses that will provide the world's first "office in a box" solution with fully integrated multiple cellular connections. Powered by Verizon Wireless' 4G LTE network, the Ericsson Converged Workspace device provides full PBX functionality, simultaneous voice calls across multiple cellular lines, LTE VoIP and multi-user Internet connectivity. The Ericsson Converged Workspace unit allows businesses to deploy new office locations or set up temporary work environments within minutes.
  • Ericsson 4G Mobile Broadband Router — Ericsson is also working with the Verizon Wireless LTE Innovation Center on a 4G LTE mobile broadband router for both homes and small offices. The Ericsson 4G Mobile Broadband Router provides high-speed wireless Internet access, Wi-Fi functionality and voice calling via LTE VoIP.

The Verizon Wireless 4G LTE Mobile Broadband network, launched in December 2010, is the fastest, most advanced 4G network in the United States, providing speeds up to 10 times faster than Verizon Wireless' 3G network. Verizon Wireless' 4G LTE Mobile Broadband network currently reaches one-third of all Americans, with plans to expand the network to the company's entire 3G coverage area over the next three years.

Ericsson is a founding partner of the Verizon Wireless' LTE Innovation Center, which was established in 2008 to provide an environment for diverse companies to work together to develop innovative products that leverage 4G LTE technology.

The Ericsson Converged Workspace and the Ericsson 4G Mobile Broadband Router will be highlighted from Jan. 6-9 in Verizon Wireless' booth (#35216 in the South Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center) at CES.
