ALPHARETTA, GA — Verizon Wireless is celebrating the grand opening of its retail location in Phenix City, AL, which marks the first corporate-owned store for any wireless provider in the city and the fourth Verizon Wireless retail location in the Columbus, GA metropolitan area.
“We are very excited about joining the local community,” said Jeff Mango, president of the Georgia/Alabama Region, Verizon Wireless. “This addition to our network of retail stores throughout the region further enhances our ability to serve Phenix City residents on the ground with a top-notch device lineup, superior network and excellent customer service.”
Grand Opening
The recently opened store at 3709 Highway 280 Bypass is officially celebrating with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, January 28 at 8:30 a.m., attended by the Russell County-Phenix City/Russell County Chamber of Commerce.
In honor of the store opening, Verizon Wireless will present a $500 HopeLine grant to the Crisis Center of Russell County at the January 28 ribbon cutting ceremony. The Crisis Center of Russell County is dedicated to helping victims of domestic abuse and sexual assault rebuild their lives, by providing personal advocacy, emotional support, safe housing, assistance to community resources, and offering preventative education to the community.
In the Community
The addition of the Phenix City Verizon Wireless store will help enhance Verizon Wireless’ ongoing outreach to the soldiers stationed at Fort Benning as well as their friends and loved ones. Employees at Alabama’s newest Verizon Wireless location will participate in volunteer activities at the Army Base.
Since 2007, Verizon Wireless has had ongoing involvement with the Department of Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) at Fort Benning. Every 6-8 weeks, MWR holds a concert or movie screening for the soldiers in basic training, who have limited or no access to phones. At these events, employees of the Columbus, GA- area retail locations bring in between 50-100 phones so that the trainees are able to place calls and send pictures to their families.

Additional grand opening events for the new Phenix City store taking place throughout the weekend of January 28 – January 30 include live radio remotes, refreshments, giveaways and special pricing available exclusively at this location.
