DENVER, CO — Calling, downloading apps and surfing the web on the Verizon Wireless 3G network is now easier and faster for residents and travelers in Colorado, thanks to new cell sites in the state. The sites expand 3G wireless coverage and capacity in the following locations:

  • Aurora – along I-70 west of Gun Club Road and East of Pena Blvd
  • Ramah – along Hwy 24 east of Calhan and west of Simla

Verizon Wireless has invested more than $1 billion in its Colorado network since being founded in 2000, including $111 million in 2010. Nationally, the company has invested more than $65 billion since its founding to increase the coverage and capacity of its network, and to add new services.

In March 2011, Verizon Wireless unveiled 59 markets that will benefit from the world’s first large-scale 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network by the end of the year. These recently-named areas, added to the 39 initial markets launched in December 2010 and 49 markets announced at the Consumer Electronics Show in January, mean that consumers and businesses in at least 147 U.S. cities will have access to the fastest, most advanced 4G mobile network in America. Verizon Wireless’ 4G LTE network already reaches 110 million people, more than one third of all Americans.

In Denver, the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network covers the greater metropolitan area, extending north to Commerce City and bounded on the south by C-470. Additionally, coverage includes Boulder and the Denver International Airport.

Later this year, the 4G LTE network expansion will include Colorado Springs and Ft. Collins. For more information, please visit: www.verizonwireless.com/4G.
