PARSIPPANY, NJ — DRS Technologies, Inc., a Finmeccanica Company, announced today that the ARMOR™ X10gx and ARMOR™ X7 rugged tablet computers have endured rigorous testing and have been certified for connectivity on the Verizon Wireless network.

This accomplishment ensures that customers utilizing the integrated WWAN capabilities of the ARMOR™ X10gx and ARMOR™ X7 will have an optimal data and communication experience with Verizon Wireless.

Both fully-rugged rugged tablets-with integrated Gobi™ 2000 WWAN mobile broadband radio to keep the user connected on multiple wireless networks-achieved certification under Verizon Wireless' Open Development program. This program is designed to allow and encourage the development community to create new products, applications and services, and bring these to the marketplace on the Verizon Wireless network.

"This qualification is another example of our commitment to deliver innovative and complete rugged mobile solutions to ARMOR™ customers," commented Mike Sarrica, Vice President and General Manager for DRS Tactical Systems. "Mobile workers need robust connectivity, and the ARMOR™ X10gx and ARMOR™ X7 both deliver that while enhancing the efficiency and productivity of an increasingly mobile workforce."

The ARMOR™ X10gx and ARMOR™ X7 feature a range of connectivity options that go beyond WWAN, including Bluetooth® wireless, integrated GPS, and 802.11 a/g/n WiFi. They are specifically designed for mission-critical tasks that require connectivity, mobility, ease of use, and the durability to support all-weather operations. The ARMOR™ X10gx and ARMOR™ X7 are certified to MIL-STD-810G for extremes in temperature, vibration, shock, and drops.

With a weight of just 4.7 lbs., the ARMOR™ X10gx carries an ingress protection (IP) rating of 67, which means it is fully protected against dust and can withstand the effects of immersion in water to depths up to one meter. Other features include a new docking system, an Intel® Core2 Duo™ Processor with up to 4GB RAM, an Intel® embedded Montevina system architecture, and a 64GB solid-state hard drive with options up to160GB that is user-replaceable.

The ARMOR™ X7 compact rugged tablet offers hand-held mobility at a weight of 2.85 lbs, with a 7" sunlight readable touch screen display. Like the ARMOR™ X10gx, it has the durability to support all-weather operations with an IP65 rating. It features the Intel® Atom™ processor N450 and runs Microsoft® Windows 7 Professional. Additionally, the ARMOR™ X7 marks the debut of the new m-SATA solid-state drives from Intel in the rugged marketplace, in both 40GB and 80GB capacities.
