EL PASO, TX — Wireless calling, text messaging and surfing the Web on the Verizon Wireless high-speed 3G network is now easier and faster in El Paso thanks to four new cell sites added in the second quarter. The sites expand 3G wireless coverage and capacity:

  • In and around the Veteran’s Park area and along Loop 375 into Fort Bliss;
  • Along Interstate 10 extending north to Northern Pass Drive and south to Medano Drive; In the Williams Park area; and
  • In the area surrounding the intersection of Doniphan Drive and West Redd Road.

The company’s ongoing network investment in El Paso, Texas and New Mexico now totals more than $375 million, including $70 million in 2010. Since the company was formed, Verizon Wireless has invested more than $65 billion – $6 billion on average every year – to increase the coverage and capacity of its premier nationwide network and to add new services. On July 21, Verizon Wireless turned on the world’s most advanced wireless network in 28 additional markets, bringing the blazingly fast speed of 4G LTE to a total of 102 cities across the country. The company has committed to launch the 4G LTE network in El Paso in 2011.
