DALLAS, TX — M&A Technology and Verizon Wireless today unveiled a new campaign to distribute the Companion Touch™ tablet, an Intel®-powered convertible PC with touchscreen functionality to enhance learning in K-12 schools across the country.

With the influx of mini-laptops and tablets into the educational market, the Companion Touch 10 addresses the need for an affordable tablet PC in the K-12 market. The M&A Companion Touch offers a resistive 10.1-inch touchscreen, which allows students to interact with the device using the stylus or simply by tapping the screen.

The convertible screen makes it easier for students to interact with the device and share their work in group activities. The built-in webcam swivels 180 degrees to capture pictures and movies from different angles. The screen can be laid flat for writing, sketching and for solving math problems. It also can be oriented in portrait mode for eBook reading.

The standard configuration comes with a 10.1-inch resistive touchscreen, 250 GB hard drive, 2 GB RAM, 1.3 MP rotating camera, Bluetooth®, Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity with Verizon Wireless. Its ruggedized design and built-in handle make for a student-friendly tablet for day-to-day usage in the classroom and at home, and reduce the total cost of ownership for schools. A full description of the product is available at www.macomp.com/companiontouch10.

“Education is one of the primary verticals that see a benefit from 3G technology,” said Alex Coleman, Vice President, Government and Education, Verizon Wireless. “Devices such as tablets and laptops have strong appeal for the students and instructors as they are user-friendly, portable and make the learning experience fun. With our reliable 3G network, the Companion Touch is a cost-effective device and a seamless transition into any curriculum.”

As an Intel Authorized Integrator, M&A Technology will make this device available through Verizon Wireless to provide a continuous learning experience with 3G connectivity.

“The Companion Touch 10 will help to realize the vision and benefits of one-on-one computing in education, enriching the learning experience for students,” said Jihad Jubran, Senior Vice President, Business Development, M&A Technology. “We feel that Verizon Wireless offers the best network for our business vision for the Companion Touch to be most effective.”
