ALPHARETTA, GA — Verizon Wireless today announced it is bringing the nation’s largest 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network to Macon, Georgia in the coming weeks. With the 4G LTE network, customers can use 4GLTE wireless devices in Macon to access the Internet faster; listen to music or watch video on their phones; use thousands of apps; and stay in touch with family and friends, all with speeds up to 10 times faster than before.

When Verizon Wireless turns on its 4G LTE network in Macon, customers in commercial, downtown and residential areas of Macon, Warner Robins & Perry will have access to the nation’s fastest 4G network. The network’s coverage will include, but is not limited to, North Macon, Lake Tobesofkee, Macon Municipal Airport, Byron, Centerville, Robins Air Force Base, I-75 in Bibb and Houston County and I-16 in Bibb County.

“The future is here in Macon and it is Verizon Wireless 4G LTE. We’ve always believed that the best wireless devices deserve the best wireless networks. Our commitment to 4G LTE is bringing customers a level of wireless data service with upload and download speeds and connectivity that is revolutionizing the way we communicate,” said Jonathan LeCompte, president – Georgia/Alabama region, Verizon Wireless.

As of March 15, the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network covers more than 200 million people in 203 markets across the country and supports more than 20 4G LTE devices, including a wide variety of tablets, smartphones, hotspots and more. Verizon Wireless plans to more than double the number of its 4G LTE markets, bringing the total markets to more than 400, by the end of the year.

In real-world, fully loaded network environments, Verizon Wireless 4G LTE customers should experience average data rates of 5 to 12 megabits per second (Mbps) on the downlink and 2 to 5 Mbps on the uplink.
