SIREN, WI — To continue to stay ahead of rising demand for wireless voice, multimedia and Internet access, Verizon Wireless has expanded its local network in Siren, Wis., by activating a new cell site.

The cell site provides improved coverage in and around the city of Siren and its surrounding lakes Big Doctor Lake, Clam Lake, Clear Lake, Crooked Lake and Long Lake. The network will also extend coverage outside of Siren along State Highway 35 between Fredric and Webster and along State Highway 70 to the east and west of Siren.

The new cell site provides increased wireless voice and data service in the Siren area, which empowers more Verizon Wireless customers to rely on their wireless phones for social networking, Internet browsing, downloading apps, exchanging email and text, picture and video messaging, as well as making calls.

“People increasingly rely on smartphones and applications to manage their busy lives and stay connected at home or on-the-go,” said T.J. Fox, region president, Verizon Wireless. “This new cell site is part of our continual investment in our network so our customers can use their devices when, where and how they need them.”

This new cell site is part of Verizon Wireless’ continual effort to expand coverage, increase capacity and enhance the quality of its wireless voice and data network in Wisconsin. Nationally, Verizon Wireless has invested more than $65 billion since it was formed—$6 billion on average every year—to increase the coverage and capacity of its premier nationwide network and to add new services. In Wisconsin, $99 million was invested in the network in 2011.
