UPDATE - Monday, March 18: The DROID 4 by Motorola will soon be upgraded to AndroidTM 4.1, Jelly Bean. The software upgrade will be pushed to customers in phases starting March 19. For more information on the Jelly Bean upgrade, visit the DROID 4 support page.

Aug. 13 - The DROID 4 by Motorola is the next smartphone to be upgraded to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich software. The software upgrade, which will be pushed to customers in phases starting August 13, also makes the smartphone Global Ready.

Ice Cream Sandwich includes upgraded functionality and new features, such as Face Unlock. By looking directly at the screen, the smartphone recognizes its owner and automatically unlocks the device. It also includes Direct Access Lock Screen, which allows users to easily open camera, text messages and the keypad from the lock screen.

The upgrade makes it easier for users to video chat with the new Video Calling icon, providing one click access to video chatting apps like ooVoo and Tango. Color will now be included, allowing customers to take advantage of 4G LTE speeds while broadcasting live events with audio to friends on Facebook.

For effortless multi-tasking, switch between apps using the Recent Apps feature and easily close unused ones with just a swipe of a finger.

With an international plan, customers will have voice and data service in more than 205 countries.
