Verizon Wireless To Expand Its 4G LTE Network In Plymouth County, Massachusetts, On August 16

MIDDLEBORO, MA — Verizon Wireless announced today it will expand the nation’s largest 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network to an additional five communities in Plymouth County on Thursday, August 16.  

Verizon Wireless customers with compatible 4G LTE smartphones, modems, tablets and mobile hotspots will be able to wirelessly surf the Web, stream music and video, and download files up to 10 times faster than customers on 3G.

When Verizon Wireless expands its 4G LTE network, it will be newly available in the following communities in Plymouth County:

• Lakeville
• Marion
• Mattapoisett
• Middleboro
• Wareham

Also on August 16, the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network will expand to cover the following nearby communities across the North Shore in Massachusetts:

• Georgetown
• Groveland
• Haverhill
• Merrimac
• Methuen
• Middleton
• Newbury
• Newburyport
• Salisbury

4G LTE Coverage and Speed

Already available in portions of all six New England states, the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network will be available to more than 75 percent of the U.S. population in 371 markets nationwide on August 16. The network continues to rank as the nation’s largest 4G LTE network.

In real-world, fully loaded network environments, Verizon Wireless’ 4G LTE customers should experience average data rates of 5 to 12 megabits per second (Mbps) on the downlink and 2 to 5 Mbps on the uplink.

When customers travel outside of a 4G LTE coverage area, 4G LTE devices automatically connect to Verizon Wireless’ 3G network, enabling customers to stay connected from coast to coast.
