LAUREL, MD — When it comes to network quality in the Mid-Atlantic Region, Verizon Wireless ranks highest among U.S. wireless providers, according to the latest J.D. Power and Associates 2012 Wireless Network Quality Performance Study℠, Volume 2.  The Mid-Atlantic Region includes the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia, as well as Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.

The J.D. Power and Associates study measured network quality among all U.S. wireless service providers based on factors that impact overall carrier performance.  Approximately 27,000 wireless subscribers were surveyed by J.D. Power and Associates between January and June 2012 about their experiences with wireless voice, text messaging and data usage.  Based on their responses, Verizon Wireless performed significantly above the industry average in all six regions and ranked highest among national wireless companies in five regions, including the Mid-Atlantic Region.

“Today’s smartphones and tablets require a powerful network in order to make the most of all the features and functionality customers have come to expect from their wireless devices,” said Mike Maiorana, president of Verizon Wireless in Washington, DC, Maryland and Virginia.  “Verizon Wireless is firmly committed to providing customers in the Mid-Atlantic with the very best wireless experience, expanding, enhancing and maintaining our nationwide industry-leading wireless voice and data network.”

Verizon Wireless invests on average more than $6 billion annually in its network to stay ahead of the growing demand for the company’s voice and data services.  The company’s ongoing network investment totals more than $70 billion nationally since it was formed in 2000 and nearly $3 billion in DC. Maryland and Virginia.  This includes the introduction and continuous expansion of 4G LTE.

Verizon Wireless leads the way with the nation’s largest 4G LTE network, covering more than 75 percent of the U.S. population and supporting a wide array of 4G LTE-enabled devices, such as the Samsung Galaxy S® III and DROID INCREDIBLE 4G LTE by HTC, as well as HomeFusion℠ Broadband, an in-home broadband service that harnesses the power of the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network.
