TAMPA, FL — More wireless consumers in neighborhoods throughout the Tampa Bay area will have access to the nation’s fastest  4G wireless network, when Verizon Wireless further expands its most advanced 4G LTE (Fourth Generation/Long-Term Evolution) technology here on September 20.

Verizon launched the technology in the core areas of Tampa Bay and other major Florida markets in December 2010, and has been rapidly rolling it out throughout the region and the state ever since.  On September 20, the company is turning on 4G LTE capabilities at dozens of cell sites near the following areas of Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco and Hernando counties: Spring Hill, Dade City, Zephyrhills, Wesley Chapel, Land O Lakes (north), Darby, San Antonio, St. Leo, Outlaw Ridge, Odessa, Hudson, Hernando Beach, Bayonet Point, Aripeka, Shady Hills, Ridge Manor, Hernando County Airport, plus new sections of the Suncoast Parkway and I-75 in Pasco and Hernando counties.

Verizon Wireless is the nation’s largest 4G LTE network, available now in more than 370 markets across the country.  The rapid rollout of 4G LTE across Verizon’s entire network footprint is scheduled to be complete by the end of 2013.

“Nine out of 10 Tampa Bay residents and businesses have access to Verizon Wireless 4G LTE technology, and we’re working hard to fill in every nook and cranny here,” said Frank Wise, network executive director for the Verizon Wireless Florida region.  “We’re rolling out 4G LTE quickly to remain far ahead of our competitors and to provide customers with the most technologically advanced wireless devices and services.”

Verizon Wireless offers a large variety of 4G LTE devices which range from tablets and mobile hotspots to the latest smartphones.  The newest 4G LTE devices include the 4G LTE-capable Apple iPhone 5 to be available in stores September 21, the Samsung Galaxy S® III, the DROID INCREDIBLE 4G LTE by HTC and many more.

With these devices, on-the-go customers can watch movies, television shows and other video content with applications like viewdini.  Viewdini brings the power of Verizon Wireless’ 4G LTE network to the screen by streamlining access to videos from a wide range of content providers, including cable operators, websites and other popular video sources.

Customers also can take advantage of 4G LTE-optimized applications like Color to share live video broadcasts of life’s special moments with their Facebook® friends.  Sharing live video with audio is an exclusive feature of the Color app on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network.
