Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is serious about personalizing a device. A number of new and upgraded features to the operating system lets users customize their devices to suit their lifestyles.

The first thing a user will notice is an upgrade on Face Unlock. Previously available on Ice Cream Sandwich, Jelly Bean takes the security feature a step farther. Now, a device includes a “liveliness check” option, allowing users to blink at their device to unlock it to prove it’s actually them and not just a picture being held up to the phone.

After passing the “liveliness check” you can customize the keyboard to match your type and text style. Options include more than 20 languages, and you can decide whether you want to include prediction and correction while typing.

Also, Jelly Bean makes it easier to personalize your home screen. As you place widgets on the screen, everything else automatically moves or resizes to make room. And, you can quickly remove apps or widgets from any home screen by picking them up and flinging them to the edge of the screen.

Maybe the most personal feature of all is Google Now. This new technology uses location and search history to identify important information like weather, traffic updates and train schedules, and displays it on the home screen. Additionally, the information is automatically updated, letting users plan their day.
