For many, a trip to the mall is an opportunity to hang out with friends and family. Tech-savvy entrepreneurs, however, are creating new ways to socialize while shopping without leaving home. You can visit an E-mall right from your mobile device.

Social shopping is browsing and buying with friends through social media by exchanging product ideas, tips and reviews throughout the shopping process. According to Booz & Company, by 2015, the dollar volume of goods sold globally through social media will rise six-fold, to $30 billion from $5 billion in 2011.

Social shopping site Wanelo, whose name comes from a combination of the words want, need and love, reorganizes shopping around people. The site makes it easier to browse and find exactly what you’re looking for, whether it’s a new pair of sneakers or a warm scarf. You can search, follow and favorite a variety of stores like Nordstrom and Foot Locker, brands like TOMS shoes and individual designers. You can even post products to your personal page so others can see your own style preferences.

Similar to Wanelo, Wantering is a fashion discovery tool that allows you to buy the latest clothing and accessories all in one place. The site curates collections from a mix of online boutiques, flash sale sites and major retailers. Scroll through to “favorite” and share the new sunglasses or hat you purchased with friends by linking your Wantering account to your social sites such as Twitter and Facebook.

Not quite ready to share your purchases with the world? Post product photos to a private Instagram account for only your closest followers. You can also use the group messaging app GroupMe to text your circle of friends and family for advice and input before making a purchase or to brag about your latest deal.

If a jacket caught your eye in a movie you just saw or if you saw someone carrying a backpack you can’t live without, visit TheHunt – a site that “tracks down the things you covet” with the help of its online community.

Bringing the mall to you has never been easier. Happy shopping!
