UPDATE - Thursday, Dec. 19: Residents and visitors to New York City and the Tri-State Area can continue to rely on Verizon Wireless to stay connected. For the fifth consecutive study, Verizon Wireless has been recognized by RootMetrics for top data performance and top combined network performance

Oct. 14th - As the country's most densely populated metro area, it’s no surprise that residents and visitors in the New York Metropolitan region are always on the go and need to be connected – and there’s no exception when they’re at the airports. As home to three of the nation’s busiest airports – Newark Liberty International, LaGuardia and John F. Kennedy International (JFK) – a strong mobile connection is critical for the thousands of passengers traveling in and out of the region every day.

Nancy Briscoe, a marketing manager at Two Sheps That Pass…, an entertainment marketing firm, says her smartphone provides entertainment while she waits for her flight. A music fan, Briscoe streams her personal playlists from Spotify to relax before takeoff. "So glad I was able to stream my Spotify playlists to get me in the mood for my last flight from JFK,” she said. “It was effortless."

Mobile connectivity is also important for Jillian Hoffman, an executive assistant at Hadassah in New York City. “Whenever I’m traveling, I need to have access to my email and be able to download documents. That way I can keep things moving, even while I’m out of the office.”

Nicole Gentile, a frequent traveler and physician’s assistant at New York Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, says that the ability to stay connected at the airport with a strong 4G LTE network provides peace of mind for herself and her family. “The last time I traveled – as soon as I landed at LaGuardia – I was able to send out a text message to my family, letting them know I arrived safely,” she said.

Verizon Wireless recently was recognized by RootMetrics for providing the strongest overall network performance at John F. Kennedy International AirportLaGuardia Airport and Newark Liberty International Airport. Verizon continually builds the strength of its network in the New York Metropolitan area through software enhancements, daily monitoring and testing, in order to provide the region with fast, reliable service.

RootMetrics, an independent data company dedicated to helping improve the mobile experience, recently took a look at the country’s 50 busiest airports, evaluating how the four major carriers performed. Verizon Wireless won the award for strongest performances in Web and app, email, and network speed tests in all three of New York City’s major airports.

Verizon Wireless’ 4G LTE network, the nation’s largest, is available in more than 500 markets across the country.
