Picture this: You walk into a Verizon Wireless store and to the right, you see a full-size treadmill. A quick look beyond and you see a couch and three stools near a large-screen HDTV. And, right in the center of the store, is an interactive learning area where customers can sit, discuss and learn about technology in an informal setting.
These are just a few of the many surprises you will find in the new Verizon Destination Store at Mall of America® in Minneapolis, Minn. The stores shift the focus from selling devices to helping you learn all that wireless technology can do for your mobile lifestyle. During the next few years Verizon Wireless will open additional Destination Stores at iconic locations across the county.
If you haven’t yet visited the Verizon Wireless Destination Store, here are five things you will see that you might not expect.
Create: Use a photo from your smartphone to create a one-of-a-kind smartphone case design. Just select a photo and within an hour, the new case will be created in-store. Or if you’re feeling a bit more adventurous, use the in-store green screen camera to take a picture of yourself and place it into one of many different fantasy backgrounds.
Learn: Live, interactive Wireless Workshops are hosted daily. The store includes a dedicated workshop area with seating where an education specialist can share tips and lead classes in front of a large touch-screen display. Class schedules and FAQs are posted on the screen when class is not in session.
Listen: If you’re a music fan, there’s a digital DJ booth where you can create your own playlists or hear sounds from the local music scene. The DJ booth is part of the Amplify It Interactive lifestyle zone that includes high-end headsets and speakers.
Get Fit: After trying the treadmill, check out the bike display where you can examine a series of fitness apps and accessories such as the Fitbit Zip Wireless Activity Tracker or a smart scale.
Become Part of the Store: In the center, you will see an expansive, curved digital wall. As you approach, the screen senses your presence and creates a shimmering mirror image as you move. The closer you get, the more lifelike the image becomes.
