Customer experience and sustainability are large initiatives for Verizon Wireless, and now the company is taking another step forward in improving an important aspect of its business.

To ensure devices in the Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) Replacement Program are ready for customer use, they are undergoing a rigorous 100-point quality check, then shipped to the customer. Traditionally, the packages have been sent in a plastic clamshell case. Now, Verizon Wireless uses a new CPO box.

The new CPO box creates a better phone unboxing experience for the customer. The new, sleeker box exhibits quality and value, with an adjustable tab to keep the device secure and free from lateral movement.

The CPO box is made from 100 percent recycled, post-consumer waste paper, using soy ink and wind-powered presses. The new package contains zero plastic. In fact in 2014 alone, the new CPO boxes will reduce plastic waste by more than 23 tons. All of these aspects contribute to Verizon Wireless’ goal of making its operations more efficient.
