The mobile device has changed the consumer lifestyle and, some would say, has become indispensible. Verizon Wireless has continued its long-standing commitment to offer its customers a superior network experience, and a series of metro and airport studies, issued by RootMetrics in the first half of 2014, lends further support to that claim.
In independent testing conducted by RootMetrics as part of its bi-annual RootScore® Reports for metro markets in the United States, Verizon Wireless ranked first or tied for first in 115 of 125 RootMetrics metro reports in overall network performance, more than any other among the four national carriers.
Verizon Wireless also ranked first or tied for first in 30 of 50 RootMetrics Airport RootScore Reports, which measured data network performance in the first half of 2014: more wins than any other national wireless carrier tested. Verizon Wireless won or tied for data network performance in four of the top five largest airports in the United States – Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International (ATL); Chicago O’Hare International (ORD); Los Angeles International (LAX); and Denver International (DEN).
RootScore Reports are designed to characterize the consumer experience, measuring the overall network experience, including reliability; speed; and call, data and text performance, according to the Seattle-based independent mobile-analytics firm.

Verizon Wireless introduced its 4G LTE network in 2010 and presently has more than 500 markets covered – giving access to 97 percent of the U.S. population – with more than twice the square miles of any other wireless provider in the U.S.
In 2013, the company began adding network capacity, using its AWS spectrum, branded as XLTE, to ensure that it stays ahead of customer demand for access to its popular 4G LTE network. To date, Verizon Wireless has deployed XLTE in more than 300 markets across the United States. RootMetrics used XLTE Ready devices to test the Verizon Wireless networks in all markets this year.
In March 2014, RootMetrics released its first-ever National RootScore Report where Verizon Wireless was the Overall RootScore Award winner and the leader in the state rankings with wins or ties for first place for Overall network performance in 45 states. That study was created to characterize the consumer mobile network performance experience at a national and state level.
