Verizon Wireless encourages its technologists to imagine the future, and how it might be made real. Many of these ideas are reflected in the hundreds of patents received by Verizon Wireless for the research conducted by inventors in the lab and in the field.
A few of these inventors will be highlighted in a series of videos throughout the year to give a peek behind the curtain to learn more about the people working on the next generation of the best networks.
Verizon Wireless’ superior networks enable others to create never-before possible solutions, and Verizon Wireless is actively encouraging the groundbreaking work of today’s innovators.
There are two Innovation Centers, located outside of Boston and San Francisco, that provide opportunities for both existing companies and entrepreneurs to use the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE ecosystem to develop, test and refine solutions to a myriad of issues.
More than 80 products, ranging from customer-focused solutions such as the 4G LTE Router by Netgear, to enterprise-ready solutions such as the Big Belly Solar trash cans have come through the Verizon Wireless Innovation Centers.
To inspire and support start-ups and entrepreneurs, Verizon Wireless launched the Powerful Answers Award competition. Last year, Verizon Wireless awarded $10 million in cash and prizes to companies who developed unique ideas to address the key social issues of education, health care and sustainability.
For the 2014 Powerful Answers Award competition, Verizon received more than 1870 submissions from 78 countries. The winners will be announced in January 2015.
