As autumn approaches, travelers are starting to plan their winter cruises (or embark upon fall trips). Many vacationers use cruises as a chance to unplug, but even if you’re determined to spend some time off the grid during your journey, having a working mobile device can still be a nice option. Here’s how to get set up for a connected cruise.

To get started, go to the Verizon Wireless Trip Planner and select “Cruise ship." You will then have the option to choose your exact vessel from a drop-down menu that includes many of the largest and most popular ships in the industry. Click “next,” and you'll have the opportunity to choose the way you want to keep in touch from options that include voice/messaging, smartphone, wireless Internet and tether/hotspot. Finally, you'll choose your device make and model from a drop-down menu, and the interactive trip planner will display the rates for your chosen options. You’ll also be given information on how to enable international roaming.

Adding this step to your cruise planning can help you have a more relaxing and fun trip – not to mention making it easier to share those important real-time vacation photos with the folks back home.
