The holidays are a time of joy and laughter, but for many, the season can also be a bit overwhelming. Luckily for us, connected devices and mobile apps – from smart cooking gadgets to remote-controlled decorations – are helping to make the holidays run smooth this year.

Shopping

Shopping for holiday feasts is now simpler with GroceryTrip, a mobile app that scans recipes and automatically compiles ingredients into a grocery list.

For all your shopping needs, use Curbside, a service and app that allows for same-day pickup when you order online at retailers like Coach, Target, Sears and GameStop. All you have to do is pull up in front of the store and the items will be loaded right into your car.

Cooking

Cooking any holiday meal can be a cinch with smart kitchen appliances. Roasting your ham with the GE Brillion connected smart oven gives you control of temperature, timing, etc. directly from your mobile device. If you want to “set it and forget it,” the WeMo-enabled Smart Crock-Pot slow cooker is added convenience to cook a meal while you are out and about.

Home Security

If you are traveling out of town for the holidays or running around doing errands, it’s important to keep your home safe while away. There are several smart home systems available, including the Lowe’s Iris solution, which gives consumers a single app to monitor and control every aspect of the home – from the security system and smoke detectors to the garage door and even the water supply to prevent potential water damage if a pipe bursts.

Decorating

And of course, what are the holidays without festive decorations? Lumenplay special LED lights enable you to control your lights wirelessly. With just the swipe of a finger, the app-enabled lights allow for the freedom to change colors and effects for your very own personalized holiday light show. It’s a great way to impress the neighbors!

Don’t let the hustle and bustle of the holidays create unnecessary (and unwanted) anxiety. Turn to wireless technology to help keep you calm and connected.
