Southern California has some of the greatest beaches— and they’re not far from snow-covered mountains, making the region one of the few places in the world where an enthusiastic athlete can surf and ski in the same day.

Last year, action-sports blogger and California native Lindsay Tredent of FitandAwesome.com shared with us her must-have apps to help facilitate an active lifestyle. This year, she shares with us the gadgets she relies on most, as she puts local terrain to the test and sets out to hit the slopes at Bear Mountain before gliding right into a surfing session at Huntington Beach.

With a start time of 5 a.m., Tredent looks to her Samsung GALAXY Note and GALAXY Gear Watch to get her up and on the road to Bear Mountain in Big Bear Lakes. Constantly checking weather conditions and taking epic pics on the slopes are essential for a successful day on the mountain.

“I got some sweet shots on my Samsung Galaxy Note 3,” Tredent shared. “I can wirelessly upload all of my pictures to the cloud. It’s great!”

After a morning spent shredding Bear Mountain, Tredent heads down to Huntington Beach where she stops to enjoy a traditional Mexican meal at Avila’s El Ranchito Mexican Restaurant, one of the city’s most iconic dining establishments. With some downtime, Tredent syncs her Jawbone Up activity tracker to see how many calories she burned on the slopes.

Before trading in her snow pants for a wetsuit, Tredent is sure to take advantage of the sunny day to check in with her followers on her Verizon Ellipsis 8 tablet.

Huntington Beach, one of the most popular beaches in America and home to the U.S. Open of Surfing, is the final stop on her journey and it’s not long before we get to see Tredent back in action. Through the lens of her GoPro Hero 3, we are with her as she reaches her goal of snowboarding and surfing all in one day.
