What is International Calling while in the US?

While you're in the US, you can make calls to another country using your device. If you call other countries only occasionally, you can pay a standard per-minute rate.

Learn how to make an international call when you’re in the US.

Am I able to make international calls from my Verizon mobile device?

Yes. We offer 2 different features, International Services Enabled Lite and International Services Enabled, which let you make international calls from your Verizon mobile device.

International Services Enabled Lite - is included with your mobile phone plan and lets you make international calls from the US to all countries, except these:

To add International Services Enabled, contact us. Your account must be active for at least 34 days* and must be in good standing to add this feature.

*Contact us if your account has been active for fewer than 34 days.

How do I make an international call when I'm in the US?

To place a call while in the US to a country that uses 10-digit dialing, simply enter the 10-digit phone number you want to call, then tap the Call button.

To place a call while in the US to all other countries, you'll start with 011. Next, you must enter the country code, followed by the number you want to reach.

For example, if you'd like to call a number in France:

  1. Enter 011 and the country code 33.
  2. Enter the phone number.
  3. Tap the Call button.

How do I add an International Long Distance Plan to my line?

You can add an international long distance plan to your device's line:

  • In My Verizon online.
  • In the My Verizon app - Choose Account from the top left menu, then choose My Plan and International (for shared data plans), or choose a line and click Manage Plan (for unlimited plans). Follow the prompts.
  • By sending a text to 4004:
    • Global Calling Plus – text the word "Plus"
    • Global Calling – text the word "Global"
    • Global Choice – text the name of your selected country keyword

Note: Any existing line level international long distance plan you have will be removed when you add Global Choice. Any existing account level international plan will be removed from all lines when you add Global Choice to any line on the account.
