Annual Upgrade Program for Samsung Devices FAQs

  1. What's the annual upgrade program for Samsung devices?

    The annual upgrade program allows customers purchasing eligible Samsung devices to turn in that device after 30 days and payment of at least 50% to upgrade to a new eligible smartphone on a device payment agreement.

  2. How can I participate in the Samsung device annual upgrade program?

    To participate, you need to have:

    1. Purchased and activated an eligible Samsung device on a Verizon Wireless device payment agreement. Eligible devices:
      1. Galaxy S8, and Galaxy S8+ purchased on or before October 21, 2017
      2. Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge purchased on or before September 10, 2016
    2. Used the device with Verizon Wireless service for at least 30 days.
    3. Paid at least 50% of the device's retail price.
    4. Returned the eligible Samsung device in good working condition with no significant damage, as determined by Verizon Wireless, within 14 days after you upgrade
    5. Satisfied the annual upgrade program terms and conditions

  3. If the annual upgrade program for Samsung requirements are satisfied, do I need to make the remaining payments for the eligible Samsung device under my original device payment agreement?

    No, you don't need to make the remaining payments.

  4. I have other smartphones on device payment agreements. Are they eligible for early upgrades too?

    Maybe. It depends on when you purchased your device.

    • Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy S8+, purchased on a device payment agreement on or before 10/21/2017 are eligible for the annual upgrade program.

    • Samsung Galaxy S7 and Samsung Galaxy S7 edge, purchased on a device payment agreement on or before 9/10/2016 are eligible for the annual upgrade program.

    All other Samsung smartphones on active device payment agreements entered into before 5/31/2015 can upgrade to a new device on a device payment agreement as long as you meet the upgrade eligibility requirements in your pre-5/31/2015 device payment agreement.

  5. Are all Samsung devices eligible for the annual upgrade program?

    No. The only Samsung devices eligible for the annual upgrade program are:

    • Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy S8+ purchased on a device payment agreement on or before 10/21/2017 are eligible for the annual upgrade program.

    • Samsung Galaxy S7 and Samsung Galaxy S7 edge, purchased on a device payment agreement on or before 9/10/2016 are eligible for the annual upgrade program.

    For all other Samsung devices, purchased on device payments, you must pay off the remaining balance in order to upgrade to a new device.

  6. What happens if I don't return my Samsung device after I upgrade?

    If you don't return the required Samsung device after you upgrade, the remaining balance of your original device payment agreement will be due on your next bill. Here's how to return your device.
