Yes, text and multimedia messages can be blocked. To block messages:
Online
- Go to the Blocks page in My Verizon.
Note: If you have more than one device on your account, select the line you want to set the service block(s) for.
- Tap or click Block Services.
- If you're on a smartphone, tap Add. Otherwise skip this step.
- Under the Messaging section, choose the type of messaging block you want:
- Block all messaging: Prevents the line from sending and receiving any kind of text message, including picture and video messages, PSMS (Premium Messages), EMS (Enhanced Messaging) and Mobile Web Alerts/other various alerts.
- Block picture and video messaging: Prevents the line from sending and receiving any picture and video messages. You'll still be able to send and receive text messages.
- Tap or click Submit Changes.
You've successfully blocked messaging.
The My Verizon App
- Tap the menu in the top left to open it.
- Tap Devices.
- Find the device you want to add Caller ID Blocking to and tap Manage.
- Tap Controls.
- Tap Adjust Service blocks.
- Choose the type of messaging block you want and tap the switch so it's green:
- Block all messaging: Prevents the line from sending and receiving any kind of text message, including picture and video messages, PSMS (Premium Messages), EMS (Enhanced Messaging) and Mobile Web Alerts/other various alerts.
- Block picture and video messaging: Prevents the line from sending and receiving any picture and video messages. You'll still be able to send and receive text messages.
