Carrier Billing FAQs

Important: Carrier Billing will be discontinued on 3/22/24.*

Carrier Billing lets you buy digital media from select apps and websites and charge the purchase to your Verizon mobile bill.

You can buy up to $300 (per mobile account and bill cycle) in digital media, such as games, music, apps and other digital content and services from participating merchants.

Carrier Billing is different from our Bill to Account option. Purchases made with Bill to Account are not affected by the 3/22/24 discontinuation of Carrier Billing. Visit our Bill to Account FAQs to learn more.

*Exception: Eligible dontation purchases with Carrier Billing remain available after 3/22/24.

You can make either a:

• Standard purchase: A one-time, non-recurring purchase of an item or service from an approved online merchant website or in-app from your device.
• Subscription purchase: An automatic recurring purchase that takes place monthly according to the terms for the item as defined on a merchant's website.

You may be eligible to use Carrier Billing to buy from these third-party merchants until 3/22/24:

• ESR TV
• Facebook® Games Marketplace
• Microsoft® Marketplace (including Xbox, Windows Store and Microsoft 365)
• Mobile Giving Foundation
  • Discontinuation exception: You will still be able to use Carrier Billing for eligible donations after 3/22/24.
• Pray.com
• Riot Games
• Spotify®
• Telecoming
• Youtube TV

To use Carrier Billing:

• You must be on a monthly consumer calling plan, in good standing.
• Your account needs to be a personal account. Corporate, government or employee accounts are not eligible.
• Prepaid accounts are not eligible for Carrier Billing.
• Your wireless account should not be based in New Mexico.
• You must be a registered user of My Verizon.
• The line on which you want to use Carrier Billing must be able to receive text messages, and can't have the purchases and gifting blocks feature turned on.
  
  Note: Go to the Blocks page in My Verizon to make sure you don't have text messages or purchases and gifting blocked.
• There's a $300 spending limit per mobile account per bill cycle.
• Only digital media or virtual goods are eligible (e.g., virtual online gaming such as League of Legends, music, e-books, etc.).

Carrier Billing is available as a payment option if you’re eligible. You don't need to sign up.

You can select Carrier Billing if it appears as a payment option for your purchase.

When you buy digital media from a participating merchant, you'll have the chance at checkout to select the "Carrier Billing" option and follow the instructions. Generally, after selecting this option, you'll follow these steps:

1. When prompted, you will enter your mobile phone number in the fields indicated on the merchant’s website or app.
2. You’ll either be prompted to enter the Account Owner’s billing ZIP code or receive a temporary passcode sent via a text message for you to enter in the proper field.
3. A confirmation text and email will be sent to you containing the merchant name and purchase amount.

Here's how Carrier Billing charges and the breakdown of any applicable taxes for each purchase appear on your bill.

• For paper bills - Charges are under the Usage and Purchase > Purchases from Verizon or Purchases from Other Vendors section.
• In My Verizon - View your bill. Charges are under Charges By Line > Purchase from Verizon or Purchase from Other Vendors.
  

You can use the Block Purchases and Gifting feature for no charge in My Verizon to block Carrier Billing.

To activate the block:

1. Go to the Blocks page in My Verizon.
2. If you have multiple lines, select the line that you want to block purchases on.
3. Tap Block services.
4. Tap Purchases.
5. Turn on Block Purchases and Gifting.
