Verizon Security & Privacy is being upgraded to Digital Secure

Say hello to Digital Secure. It's the same great antivirus, app privacy, and Web & Wi-Fi protection you were getting with Verizon Security and Privacy, but with a new name and look. Plus, you'll also have the option to add premium features, including identity theft protection.

Upgrading is easy, and it will help ensure that your device stays protected from the latest threats.

To Update from Verizon Security & Privacy to Digital Secure:

  1. Look for a notification from the Google Play™ Store that says Verizon Security & Privacy needs an update. You should receive it in the second half of July 2019.
  2. Tap the notification and follow the onscreen prompts to update Security & Privacy.
  3. Once the update is complete, tap the new Digital Secure icon (shown below) to open the app.
    Note: The update will automatically remove the old icon for Verizon Security & Privacy from your device.
  4. Read and accept the Terms & Conditions and Permissions in the app to ensure Digital Secure is protecting your device.

You've successfully updated from Verizon Security & Privacy to Digital Secure.

Why do I need Digital Secure if I have Verizon Security & Privacy?

The Verizon Security & Privacy app is being discontinued and is being replaced by Digital Secure. Additional features are available with the premium version of Digital Secure to help keep your personal data protected from the latest online threats.

How is Digital Secure different from Security & Privacy?

Digital Secure is a new app that you can use to protect your device. The features are the same as Security & Privacy, and new features (e.g., secure VPN and identity theft protection) have been added when you subscribe to the premium version of Digital Secure.

I don't see an update notification for Verizon Security & Privacy. Can I still get Digital Secure?

You may not have received the notification to update yet. Yes, you can upgrade through the check Google Play™ Store on your device to see if you're able to update:

  1. Open the Google Play Store app.
  2. Enter "Digital Secure" in the Search field and tap the Search icon.
  3. Tap Verizon Digital Secure in the search results.
  4. Tap UPDATE and follow the onscreen prompts to update the app.
    Note: If you see OPEN instead of UPDATE, your app isn't ready to be upgraded. Watch for a notification from Google Play letting you know it's time to update Digital Secure.
  5. Once the update is complete, tap the new icon to open the app.
  6. Read and accept the Terms & Conditions and Permissions in the app to ensure Digital Secure is protecting your device.
    Note: You may also want to modify the settings in the new app to meet your needs.
