How to change your plan

Learn how to change your Verizon Wireless plan, including how to switch to a new plan or increase your current plan's data, voice or messaging allowance.

Switch to mix and match unlimited

    My Verizon website

    To mix and match unlimited plans on your account through the My Verizon website:

    1. Go to the Change Your Plan page in your web browser.
    2. Click Explore plans.
    3. Click Explore Unlimited.
    4. Click Continue.
    5. Click Pick a plan.
    6. Select the plan you want for that device.
    7. Click Pick this plan.
    8. Repeat steps 5 - 7 for each device on your account.

      Note: You also have the option to pick the same plan that you picked for the previous device. Click the link that says "Apply (plan name)" (e.g., Apply Above Unlimited) next to the Pick this plan button to add that plan to the next device.
    9. Once you've selected a plan for each device on your account, click Continue.
    10. Click the This cycle dropdown at the top of the page, and select when you'd like the plan change to take effect.
    11. Review your plan changes and click Confirm.

    You've successfully switched to a mix and match unlimited plan. If you chose to switch your plan at the next bill cycle, your plan will become active on that date.

    My Verizon app

    To mix and match unlimited plans on your account through the My Verizon app:

    1. In the My Verizon app, tap the Menu icon in the top left corner of the screen.
    2. Tap Account.
    3. Tap My Plan.
    4. Tap Explore sizes.
    5. Tap Show me the new Unlimited options, and tap Next.
    6. Read about the different plan options and tap Select plans.
    7. Tap Pick a plan.
    8. Swipe right until you see the plan you want, and then tap Pick this plan.

      Note: You can also tap Compare to compare your current plan to the new unlimited plans.
    9. Select one of the options for choosing plans for your other lines:
      • Apply to all - Select this option if you want to apply the same plan to all the eligible lines on your account. If any of your lines aren't eligible for this plan, you'll be prompted to select a plan for those individually.
      • Apply to this line - Select this option if you want to choose different plans for each line on your account.
    10. Repeat steps 7 - 9 for each line that still needs a plan.

      Note: You can tap Change this plan under any line to select a different plan for that line.
    11. Tap Continue.
    12. Select when you would like your plan change to start, and tap Next.
      • Today - Your new plan will start right away and your bill will show prorated charges (a partial month for both your old plan and your new plan).
      • This cycle - Your new plan will be backdated to the start of your current bill cycle. Your bill will show only your new plan, as though you changed your plan on the first day of your bill cycle.
      • Next cycle - Your new plan will wait to start until the first day of your next bill cycle. Your bill will show only your new plan, as though you changed your plan on the first day of your bill cycle.

        Note: You may not see all of these options. Options may vary based on your account type, the changes you're making, etc.
    13. Review all the changes to your plan, and tap Confirm.

    You've successfully switched to a mix and match unlimited plan.

Switch to a Shared Data Plan

    My Verizon website

    To switch to the new Verizon Plan (e.g., S, M, L) through the My Verizon website:

    1. Go to the Change Your Plan page in your web browser.
    2. Click Explore plans.
    3. Click Explore The new Verizon Plan.
    4. Select the plan size you want.

      Note: If you aren't sure how much data you typically use each month, go to the Account Analysis page to see your past usage and get a recommendation for a plan that better fits your needs.
    5. Click Continue.
    6. Select when you want the plan change to take effect.
    7. Click Continue.
    8. Review your plan changes and click Confirm.

    You've successfully switched to the new Verizon Plan. If you chose to switch your plan at the next bill date, your plan will become active on that date.

    My Verizon app

    To switch to new Verizon Plan (e.g., S, M, L) with the My Verizon app:

    1. In the My Verizon app, tap the Menu icon in the top left corner of the screen.
    2. Tap Account.
    3. Tap My Plan.
    4. Tap Explore sizes.
    5. Tap My account doesn't need Unlimited data, and tap Next.
    6. Swipe through the different sizes to see the features and monthly charge. Tap Continue below the size you want.
    7. If prompted, select whether you want to turn on Safety Mode or not.
      • Enable - Safety Mode will kick in if you run out of data.
      • Not Now - If you use all your data, you'll automatically be charged $15 for 1 GB of data.
    8. Select when you want the new plan to start, and tap Next.
    9. Review the details and tap Confirm this plan.

    You've successfully changed your plan.

Change your plan allowance

    Follow these steps to add more data or increase your voice and messaging allowance. If your voice and messages are unlimited, you'll only be able to change your data allowance.

    My Verizon app

    If you have a current mix and match unlimited or a current shared data plan you can change your plan size with the My Verizon app. If you're on an older plan you can change it through the My Verizon website with your mobile browser or computer.

    To change your current plan allowance in the My Verizon app:

    1. In the My Verizon app, tap the Menu icon in the top left corner of the screen.
    2. Tap Account.
    3. Tap My Plan.
    4. Tap Explore sizes.
    5. Tap My account doesn't need Unlimited data, and tap Next.
    6. Swipe through the different sizes to see the features and monthly charge. Tap Continue below the size you want.
    7. If prompted, select whether you want to turn on Safety Mode or not.
      • Enable - Safety Mode will kick in if you run out of data.
      • Not Now - If you use all your data, you'll automatically be charged $15 for 1 GB of data.
    8. Select when you want the new plan to start, and tap Next.

    My Verizon website

    To change your current plan allowance through the My Verizon website:

    1. Go to the Change Your Plan page in your web browser.
    2. Tap or click Explore plans.
    3. Tap or click Modify my current plan or Modify this plan.
    4. Select the allowance(s) you want.

      Note: If you have more than one device on your account and the allowance isn't shared between the devices, you'll see separate dropdowns for each device.
    5. Tap or click Continue.

      Note: You may have the option to choose when you want the changes to take effect. You can choose to backdate the change or schedule the plan change for your next bill date. When you choose the next bill date, your new plan will take effect on the first day of your next bill cycle.
    6. Review your changes and click Confirm.

    You've successfully changed your minutes, messages or data allowance.

    Note: If you have The Verizon Plan, you need to switch to the new Verizon Plan if you want to change your data allowance.
