How to set up and manage Auto Pay
Set up Auto Pay
- If you select a payment date that's the 29th, 30th or 31st, your payment will be made the following day for months that don't include that date.
- If you set up Auto Pay with a checking account and your payment date falls on a weekend or holiday, your payment will process on the next business day.
- If you're eligible for and want to get the $5 or $10/month per line Auto Pay and paper-free billing discount, the payment method can't be a credit card.
You can turn on Auto Pay in My Verizon online and the My Verizon app:
Online in My Verizon: Sign in and go to the Set Up Auto Pay page. Or choose Bill from the top menu, then Auto Pay from the dropdown. Click Set Up Auto Pay. Follow the prompts to enter your credit card, debit card or checking account information and choose a monthly payment date.
In the My Verizon app:* Open the app on your smartphone, tap the menu in the top-left of your screen, choose Bill and follow the prompts.
*You can download the My Verizon app from Google Play™ on Android™ devices (4.0 or newer) or the App Store on Apple® devices (8.0 or newer).
Add or change your Auto Pay payment method
- My Verizon online:Go to your My Verizon Auto Pay page in My Verizon.
- My Verizon app: Go to Bill > Manage Auto Pay.
You can change your Auto Pay payment method any time in My Verizon and the My Verizon app:
From the Auto Pay page in My Verizon online or the app follow the steps below:
Change Your Auto Pay Date
Online in My Verizon: Go to the Manage Auto Pay page. In the Schedule section you can change the date of your Auto Payment. Choose from one of the available dates indicated by a white box.
My Verizon app: Tap the menu icon in the upper-left corner, tap Bill, then Set up Auto Pay to change your payment date.
You can change your Auto Pay payment date any time, either online in My Verizon or on your smartphone with the My Verizon app:
Note: if you set up Auto Pay with a checking account and your payment date falls on a weekend or holiday, your payment will process on the next business day.
Make a one-time payment
- If you make a one-time payment near your Auto Pay date and your automatic payment is already in process, you'll see a message letting you know that making the payment may result in a duplicate payment.
- If you're receiving the Auto Pay/paper-free billing discount and you use a credit card to make a one-time payment online or through the My Verizon app, the discount will be removed for the current month. The removed discount will appear as a charge on your next bill.
You can make a one-time payment, even if you’re set up for Auto Pay.
If you make a one-time payment for the full amount of your balance your next Auto Pay will be skipped. If your one time payment is less than the balance due, the remainder will be paid via Auto Pay.

Pause an Auto Payment
- Choose Bill from the top menu
- Click the Manage Auto Pay button.
- In the Auto Pay Settings section, tap or click Pause.
- Auto Pay won't make a payment until your payment date for the next month.
- Only your upcoming payment is paused, and Auto Pay resumes as usual on your payment date the following month.
You can pause an automatic payment in My Verizon up until the day before it's scheduled to post. You can't cancel a payment on the day it's set to post.
To stop an automatic payment:
My Verizon online
Go to the Manage Auto Pay.
Tap or click the Pause button.
