How to use Call Forwarding

With Call Forwarding, you can forward your mobile calls to another phone number, like your home or office number.

Prepaid accounts
: You can manage Call Forwarding from your mobile phone. Call Forwarding isn't currently available through My Verizon for prepaid.

Turn On

    Turn on Call Forwarding from your mobile phone
    1. Open the Phone app on your smartphone (or use the dial pad on your basic phone).
    2. Enter *72 and then enter the 10-digit phone number where you want your calls to be forwarded. (e.g., *72-908-123-4567).

      Note: If you want your mobile phone to ring first and then forward calls if you don't answer, enter *71 and then the 10-digit number that you want to forward your calls to. (e.g., *71-908-123-4567).

    3. Tap the Call icon and wait to hear a confirmation tone or message.

    You've successfully turned on Call Forwarding.

    Turn on Call Forwarding through the My Verizon app

    Prepaid accounts: Managing Call Forwarding through My Verizon isn't available at this time. You can turn on Call Forwarding from your mobile phone instead.

    1. In the My Verizon app, tap the Menu icon in the top left corner of the screen.
    2. Tap Devices.
    3. If you have more than one device on your account, tap Manage under the device you want to set up Call Forwarding on.
    4. Tap Controls at the top of the screen.
    5. Tap Set up Call Forwarding.
    6. Enter the 10-digit phone number you want to forward your calls to.
    7. Tap Add number.

    You've successfully turned on Call Forwarding.

    Turn on Call Forwarding from your computer

    Prepaid accounts: Managing Call Forwarding through My Verizon isn't available at this time. You can turn on Call Forwarding from your mobile phone instead.

    1. Go to the Call Forwarding page in My Verizon.
    2. If there's more than one line on your account, tap or click the Mobile Number dropdown and select the line you want to set up Call Forwarding on.
    3. Select your preferred option in the Options section:
      • Forward all calls
      • Forward calls when my line is busy or there is no answer
    4. Enter the phone number you want to forward calls to in the Forward Mobile Number to field.
    5. Tap or click Update Call Forwarding Status.

      Note: If you’ve set up Call Forwarding for this line before, you may not be prompted to complete steps 6 – 9. Your Call Forwarding will be activated once you complete step 5.

    6. If prompted, select a line to send the Online Authorization Code to. This is to verify your identity and keep your account secure.

      Note: You may not be able to select a line other than your own. Lines that can't receive the code will be grayed out.

    7. Tap or click Send me the Code.
    8. Enter the Online Authorization Code sent to your mobile phone.
    9. Tap or click Confirm.

    You've successfully turned on Call Forwarding.

Turn Off

    Turn off Call Forwarding from your mobile phone
    1. Open the Phone app on your smartphone (or use the dial pad on your basic phone).
    2. Enter *73 and tap the Call icon.
    3. Listen for a confirmation tone or message.

    Note: The confirmation tone may sound like a busy signal, and that's OK. It's an indication that your Call Forwarding has been turned off.

    You've successfully turned off Call Forwarding.

    Turn off Call Forwarding through the My Verizon app

    Prepaid accounts: Managing Call Forwarding through My Verizon isn't available at this time. You can turn on Call Forwarding from your mobile phone instead.

    1. In the My Verizon app, tap the Menu icon in the top left corner of the screen.
    2. Tap Devices.
    3. If you have more than one device on your account, tap Manage under the device needs to stop forward calls.
    4. Tap Controls at the top of the screen.
    5. Tap Set up Call Forwarding.
    6. Tap the X next to the phone number you're currently forwarding calls to.

    You've successfully turned off Call Forwarding.

    Turn off Call Forwarding from your computer

    Prepaid accounts: Managing Call Forwarding through My Verizon isn't available at this time. You can turn on Call Forwarding from your mobile phone instead.

    1. Go to the Call Forwarding page in My Verizon.
    2. If there's more than one line on your account, tap or click the Mobile Number dropdown and select the line that needs to stop forwarding calls.
    3. Tap or click Cancel Call Forwarding.

    You've successfully turned off Call Forwarding.
