How to Use Guide: Verizon Messages (Message+)

Verizon Messages (Message+) provides an enhanced text and multimedia (i.e., picture and video) messaging experience. With Verizon Messages (Message+), you can:

  • Take your conversations across multiple devices uninterrupted, using your primary phone number
  • Send and receive messages through any compatible Android™ or Apple® smartphone, web browser, computer or tablet
  • Make and receive domestic and international voice calls on a tablet when connected to Wi-Fi or our wireless network
  • Personalize images with sketches, captions or collages
  • Customize conversation backgrounds, bubble styles, fonts, notifications, autoreply messages, signatures and more
  • Send an eGift from over 30 merchants to family and friends
  • Share your current location with others using Glympse®
  • Search for media easily with Content Finder

This guide will tell you how to:

 

Download Verizon Messages (Message+) onto Your Device

To use Verizon Messages (Message+), you need a compatible device. You can download Verizon Messages (Message+) through the app store on your device for no charge.* Steps vary by operating system and device type:


Android mobile devices

  1. Open the Play Store app on your mobile phone or tablet.
  2. Tap the Google play (i.e., search) field.
  3. Enter "Verizon Messages (Message+)."
  4. Tap the Search key.
  5. Select Verizon Messages (Message+) from the search results.
  6. Tap INSTALL and follow the prompts.


Apple mobile devices

  1. Open the App Store app on your mobile phone or tablet.
  2. Tap the Search field.
  3. Enter "Verizon Messages (Message+)."
  4. Tap the Search key.
  5. Select Verizon Messages (Message+) from the search results.
  6. Tap INSTALL and follow the prompts.

    Note: You may be asked for your Apple ID password before the app installs.


Windows® computer

  1. Go to the Verizon Messages (Message+) Overview page.
  2. Click Download desktop app.
  3. Click Download Desktop App - Windows®.
  4. Click Run and follow the prompts to complete the installation.


Mac® computer

Search for Verizon Messages (Message+) in the Mac App Store or:

  1. Go to the Verizon Messages (Message+) Overview page.
  2. Click Download desktop app.
  3. Click Download Desktop App - Mac®.
  4. Follow the prompts to complete the installation.

* Data charges may apply while downloading if connected to the Verizon Wireless network.

Set Up a Phone or Tablet on Your Verizon Messages (Message+) Account

To set up a phone or tablet on your account:

  1. Download Verizon Messages (Message+) from the app store on your device.
  2. Read the Terms & Conditions.
  3. Tap Get Started.
  4. Enter a nickname for the device.
  5. Enter your mobile phone number.
  6. Tap Send me a text.
  7. You'll receive a text message on your phone with a security code. Enter the code in the app on the device to set it up on your Verizon Messages (Message+) account.

You've successfully set up a new device on your account.

Add a Computer to Your Verizon Messages (Message+) Account

To add a Windows or Mac computer to your account:

  1. After you've downloaded the app, open it.
  2. Read and accept the Terms & Conditions.
  3. Click Get Started.
  4. Enter a nickname for the app.
  5. Enter your mobile phone number.
  6. Tap Send me a text.
  7. You'll receive a text message on your phone with a security code. Enter the code in the desktop app to add the computer to your account.

You've successfully added a PC or Mac to your account.

Remove a Device from Your Verizon Messages (Message+) Account

You can remove a device from your account using your smartphone, computer or the web.

From your smartphone:

  1. Tap the Navigation Menu icon in the top-left corner.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Integrated Messaging Features: Manage Devices.
  4. Select the device you want to remove.
  5. Tap Disconnect (or tap Disconnect All to remove all devices).


From the web:

  1. Click Settings.
  2. Click Manage Devices.
  3. Click Disconnect next to the device you want to remove (or click Remove All to remove all devices).


From a Windows PC:

  1. Click the Settings icon in the upper-left of the Conversation List.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. Click Manage Device.
  4. Click Disconnect Device.
  5. You'll see a confirmation pop-up. Click Disconnect to disconnect the device.


From a Mac:

  1. Click Verizon Messages (Message+) in the menu bar.
  2. Click Preferences.
  3. Click Account.
  4. Click Disconnect Device.

 

Place a Call

To place a call from Verizon Messages (Message+) in version 5.6 or newer:

  1. From the Conversation List screen, swipe a contact's picture to the right.
  2. Your call will automatically be placed after swiping the contact.

You've successfully called someone through Verizon Messages (Message+).

To place a call from Verizon Messages (Message +) in version 5.5 or older:

  1. From the Conversation List screen, swipe a contact's picture to the left.
  2. Tap the Call icon next to the number you want to call.

You've successfully called someone through Verizon Messages (Message +).

Take, Edit and Send a Picture

To take, edit and send a picture from Verizon Messages (Message+):

  1. From the Conversation List screen, select a contact to message.
  2. Tap the Plus Sign button in the bottom-left corner.
  3. Tap Picture.

    Note: You can also tap Collage to send several photos in one message. You can select photos already saved on your device or take new ones.

  4. Tap Take Picture.
  5. Take a picture.
  6. Tap Save.
  7. Edit your picture as you wish with the tools at the bottom and tap Done.
  8. Enter a message to send with your picture.
  9. Tap the Send icon.

You've successfully taken, edited and sent a picture from Verizon Messages (Message+).

Record, Edit and Send a Video

To record, edit and send a video from Verizon Messages (Message+):

  1. From the Conversation List screen, select a contact to message.
  2. Tap the Plus Sign button in the bottom-left corner.
  3. Tap Video.
  4. Tap Record Video.
  5. Select the icons at the top of the screen to edit your video.
  6. Record your video.
  7. Tap Save.
  8. Enter a message to send with your video.
  9. Tap the Send icon.

You've successfully recorded, edited and sent a video from Verizon Messages (Message+).

Find and Send from the Web

To find something online and send it in a message from version 5.6 or newer:

  1. From an open conversation, tap the Plus Sign in the bottom-left corner.
  2. Tap Media Search.
  3. Enter your search terms.

    Note: Images are the default search result type. You can also select GIF files or videos.

  4. Select the item you want to send.

    Note: You can choose to view an item before sending it.

  5. Tap Attach.

    Note: For images you can also choose to Attach Link if you'd prefer that.

  6. Tap the Send icon.

You've successfully sent an item from a media search.

Delete Messages and Conversations

Android mobile devices

To delete messages:

  1. In a conversation, tap the Navigation Menu icon in the top-left corner.
  2. To delete a single message, touch and hold the message.
  3. Tap Delete messages.
  4. To delete multiple messages at once, check the box next to each message you want to delete.

    Note: To delete all messages, tap Unselect All, and then tap Select All.

  5. Tap Delete.

You've successfully deleted a message.

To delete conversations:

  1. To delete an individual conversation, touch and hold the conversation you want to delete.
  2. Tap Delete Conversation.
  3. To delete multiple conversations, tap the Navigation Menu icon in the top-left corner at the Conversation List level.
  4. Tap Delete Conversations.
  5. Check the boxes next to the conversations you want to delete.

    Note: Tap Select All to delete all conversations.

  6. Tap Delete.

You've successfully deleted a conversation.

Apple mobile devices

To delete messages:

  1. In a conversation, tap Edit in the header of the conversation.
  2. Select the messages you want to delete by tapping the circles next to each message you want to delete.

You've successfully deleted a message.

To delete conversations:

  1. In the conversation list, swipe the conversation you'd like to delete to the left.
  2. Tap Delete to delete the conversation.

You've successfully deleted a conversation.

Set Up an Auto Reply Message

Mobile Device

To set up Auto-Reply in Verizon Messages (Message+) version 5.6 or newer on your phone or tablet:

  1. Tap the Navigation Menu icon in the top-left corner.
  2. Tap Auto Reply.
  3. Tap the Auto Reply switch to turn it on or off.
  4. Tap Add a New Message to write your own auto reply message.
  5. Enter your auto reply message and tap Save.
  6. Select a date to turn off your auto reply message.
  7. Tap Start.

You've successfully set up Auto-Reply.

To set up Auto-Reply in Verizon Messages (Message+) version 5.5 or older on your phone or tablet:

  1. Tap the Navigation Menu icon in the top-left corner.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Auto Reply.
  4. Tap Add a new message and enter your message, or select an old message.
  5. Tap Save.
  6. Select a duration, end date or no end date.
  7. Tap Start.

You've successfully set up Auto-Reply.

Note: To stop auto-replying to messages before the end-date, tap Stop Auto Reply.

Web Browser

To set up Auto Reply on the web:

  1. From your Verizon Messages (Message+) account, click the Settings icon.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. Click ON next to Auto Reply to turn it on.
  4. Enter your Auto Reply message in the field below.

    Note: You can edit your message by clicking Edit next to the message, or click Delete if you no longer need it. The Integrated Messaging service saves your old Auto Reply messages. You can click the button next to the message you want to use, or click Add Auto Reply Message to create a new message.

  5. Select a duration, end date or no end date for the Auto Reply.
  6. Tap Save.

You've successfully set up an Auto Reply.

Note: To stop auto replying to messages before the end-date, click Off at the top of the Auto Reply section.

Computer App

To set up Auto Reply on your computer app:

  1. From the Verizon Messages (Message+) program, click the Settings icon.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. Click Auto Reply in the menu.
  4. Next to Auto Reply click ON to turn on auto reply.
  5. Enter your Auto Reply message in the field below.
  6. Click the Plus Sign icon.

    Note: You can save 5 auto-replies. If you add a sixth auto reply, it will replace the first auto reply you have on your list.

  7. Select an end date for your auto reply.

You've successfully set up an Auto Reply.

Note: To stop auto replying to messages before the end-date, click Off at the top of the Auto Reply section.

Send a Glympse

To send a Glympse of your current location:

  1. From a conversation, tap the Plus Sign icon.
  2. Tap Glypse.

    Note: For first time users, accept the terms.

  3. Tap Send at the top-right of the screen to share your location to a person or a group.
  4. Tap Send in the "Request" section to send a request for a real-time location in a one-on-one conversation.

You've successfully sent a Glympse.

Group Messaging

Create a Group Message

To create a group message with Verizon Messages (Message+):

Note: Group messages can have up to 250 participants.

  1. Tap the Pencil icon.
  2. Enter the name of the group in the Group name or Topic field.
  3. Add participants.
  4. Tap Create in the upper-right corner.

You've successfully created a group message.

Access Details and Manage a Group

To view details about a group and add or remove participants:

  1. From the main conversation screen, tap on the group to access the conversation.
  2. Tap the upper dropdown menu and tap Details to see information about the group.
    • To remove a participant, select a participant and tap Remove.
    • To add a participant, tap the Add icon at the top of the Detail Summary screen.

You've successfully viewed details and managed a group.

Mute a Group Conversation

If you don't want to receive notifications for a certain group conversation, you can mute it. You'll still receive the conversation's messages, but you won't be notified every time someone replies to the conversation.

To mute a conversation:

  1. Open the main conversation screen.
  2. Touch and hold the group conversation that you want to mute.

You've successfully muted the group conversation.

Personalize Your Experience


Upload a Profile Picture or Avatar

To upload a profile photo or avatar in version 5.6 or newer:

  1. From the Verizon Messages (Message+) Conversation List screen, tap the Navigation Menu icon in the top-left corner.
  2. Tap the Edit icon (i.e., the pencil) in the top-left corner.
  3. Touch and hold the Profile Picture icon.
  4. Select one of the options.
  5. Follow the prompts to select a picture to edit.
  6. Edit your picture as desired and tap Done.

You've successfully uploaded a profile picture or avatar.

To upload a profile picture or avatar for Glympse in version 5.5 or older:

  1. From the Verizon Messages (Message+) Conversation List screen, tap the Navigation Menu icon in the top-left corner.
  2. Scroll down and tap Settings.
  3. Scroll down and tap Advanced.
  4. Scroll down and tap Change Name and Avatar.
  5. Tap the Me field.
  6. Enter your desired name that will appear when Glympses are sent.
  7. Tap OK.
  8. Tap the white box.
  9. Select a picture.
  10. Tap Update info.

You've successfully updated your nickname and profile picture for Glympse.


Customize Conversation Background, Bubble Style, Font and Notification Tone

You can choose to customize all conversations with the same settings, or each conversation can be customized differently.

To customize the appearance of a conversation in version 5.6 or newer:

  1. Select a conversation you’d like to customize.
  2. Tap the Menu icon in the top-right corner (i.e., the three dots).
  3. Tap Customize.
  4. Tap Backgrounds.
  5. Select the background you want.

    Note: You can add your own picture by tapping the Plus Sign button. Or tap the Pallet button to change the header and background colors.

  6. Tap the Back icon in the top-left corner.
  7. Tap Conversation Bubble.
  8. Select the type of bubble you want.
  9. Tap the Back icon in the top-left corner.
  10. Tap Tones.
  11. Select the notification tone you want for your messages from the selected contact.
  12. Tap OK.
  13. Tap the Back icon to return to the conversation.

You've successfully customized your conversation.

To customize the appearance of a conversation in version 5.5 or older:

  1. From the Conversation List screen or a specific conversation, tap the Navigation Menu icon in the top-left corner.
  2. Tap Backgrounds.
  3. Select the background you want.

    Note: You can add your own picture by tapping the Plus Sign button. Or tap the Pallet button to change the header and background colors.

  4. Tap the Back icon in the top-left corner.
  5. Tap the Navigation Menu icon.
  6. Tap Conversation Bubble.
  7. Select the type of bubble you want.
  8. Tap the Back icon in the top-left corner.
  9. Tap the Navigation Menu icon.
  10. Tap Font.

    Note: To change the font, you need to be on the Conversation List screen.

  11. Select the font you want.
  12. Drag the Font Size slider to the size you want.
  13. Tap the Back icon in the top-left corner.
  14. Tap the Navigation Menu icon.
  15. Tap Tones.

    Note: You can select a tone for a conversation or all messages.

  16. Select the notification tone you want for your messages.
  17. Tap OK.

You've successfully customized your conversations.


Set a Signature

To set a signature that will display on all messages you send:

  1. From the Conversation List screen, tap the Navigation Menu icon in the top-left corner.
  2. Scroll to Settings.
  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Scroll to Enable Signature.
  5. Tap Enable Signature.
  6. Tap Auto Signature.
  7. Enter your desired signature.
  8. Tap Set.
  9. Tap the Back button to go back to the Verizon Messages (Message+) Conversation List screen.

You've successfully set a signature.

Use Driving Mode


Turn On Driving Mode

Driving mode can be turned on manually or automatically with a paired Bluetooth® connection.

To manually turn on Driving Mode:

  1. Tap the Navigation Menu icon from the Conversation List screen in the upper-left corner.
  2. Select Turn On Driving Mode at the top of the menu.

    Note: In version 5.6 of the app, you'll need to tap or slide the Driving Mode switch to On.

  3. A notification will pop up when you use it for the first time. Tap Close.

Driving Mode is turned on when a car icon appears in the Android notification bar at the top of the screen and a yellow banner is displayed on the Conversation list.

To set up Driving Mode to be turned on by Bluetooth connection:

  1. Tap the Menu icon from the Conversation List screen in the upper-left corner.
  2. Tap Settings under Advanced.
  3. Tap Driving Mode.
  4. Paired Bluetooth devices will be listed. Check the box next to the Bluetooth device you want to have trigger Driving Mode automatically.

    Note: The device you want to have trigger Driving Mode must be already paired to your mobile device. You can learn how to pair most of our smartphones and tablets with a Bluetooth device in our Interactive Simulators. Go to the Simulator Index page, select your device and select "Pairing with a Bluetooth Device" under Connectivity.

You can also pair a new device by selecting Add a device that will open the device's Bluetooth settings.


Turn Off Driving Mode

There are two ways to turn off Driving Mode. To turn off Driving Mode:

  1. Drag down the Notification Panel from the top of the screen.
  2. Tap I'm not Driving.

You've successfully turned off Driving Mode.

To turn off Driving Mode another way:

  1. Tap the yellow Driving Mode Auto-Reply is On banner on the Conversation List screen.
  2. Tap OK in the pop-up message to turn off Driving Mode.

You've successfully turned off Driving Mode.


Set a Contact to Receive an Auto-Glympse

To set a contact to be sent an Auto-Glympse when Driving Mode is turned on:

  1. Tap the Navigation Menu icon from the Conversation List screen in the upper-left corner.
  2. Tap Settings under Advanced.
  3. Tap Driving Mode.
  4. Tap Manage Auto-Glympse Contacts.
  5. Tap Add Whitelisted Contacts.
  6. Select the contact(s) you want to receive an Auto-Glympse.

The contact(s) will appear checked on the "Whitelisted Contacts" page.


Remove a Contact from the Auto-Glympse List

To remove a contact from being sent an Auto-Glympse when Driving Mode is turned on:

  1. Tap the Navigation Menu icon from the Conversation List screen in the upper-left corner.
  2. Tap Settings under Advanced.
  3. Tap Driving Mode.
  4. Tap Manage Auto-Glympse Contacts.
  5. Uncheck the contact you no longer want to send an Auto-Glympse to while driving.

You've successfully removed a contact from Auto-Glympse.


Turn Off Auto-Glympse

To turn off Auto-Glympse when Driving Mode is turned on:

  1. Tap the Navigation Menu icon from the Conversation List screen in the upper-left corner.
  2. Tap Settings under Advanced.
  3. Tap Driving Mode.
  4. Uncheck the box for Enable Auto-Glympse.

You've successfully turned off Auto-Glympse.

Use Message Scheduling


Schedule a Message

You can set up scheduled messages with Verizon Messages (Message+) version 5.6 or newer.

To schedule a message from the Conversation List screen:

  1. Tap the Menu icon in the top-right corner (i.e., three dots).
  2. Tap Scheduled Messages.
  3. Tap the Compose icon (i.e, pen).
  4. Tap the To field or select a contact from the RECENT CONTACTS list.
  5. Enter a contact's name or a phone number.
  6. Select a contact.
  7. Tap the Type a message field.
  8. Enter your message.
  9. Tap the Send icon.
  10. Select a date and time to send the message.
  11. Tap Schedule.

You've successfully scheduled a message.

To schedule a message from a conversation:

  1. Tap the Type a message field.
  2. Touch and hold the Send icon.
  3. Select an option for scheduling your message.

    Note: If you select "later," you'll be taken to a screen to choose a specific date and time.

You've successfully scheduled a message.


Cancel a Scheduled Message

To cancel a scheduled message:

  1. From the Conversation List screen, tap the Menu icon in the top-right corner (i.e., three dots).
  2. Tap Scheduled Messages.
  3. Tap the Delete icon (i.e., trash can).
  4. Select the message(s) you want to delete.
  5. Confirm your request.

You've successfully canceled a scheduled message.

Navigation Bar

The navigation bar is displayed in the main conversation screen and within individual conversations. You can use the navigation bar to sort your messages by contacts, photos & videos, links, eGift, or audio.

You can remove the navigation bar by tapping the menu icon in the top-right corner, then tap Hide Nav Bar.
 

Send an eGift

  1. Choose the recipient.
  2. From within a conversation, click on the "+" icon.
  3. Tap eGifts.
  4. View and tap the eGift that you would like to send.
  5. Select the eGift art.
  6. Select the amount.
  7. Write your message.
  8. Choose how you want to pay for the eGift:
    • Charge to your Verizon account: When you charge an eGift to your Verizon Wireless account, it will appear on your next month's bill.
    • Credit Card: You can use a new credit card or select one you've previously used and saved.

      To pay with a saved card:
      1. Tap the card you want to use.
      2. Enter your PIN.

      To pay with a new card:
      1. Tap Use a New Card.
      2. Enter your credit card name info.
      3. If you plan to buy future eGifts with this card, select Save this card info. Next time you buy an eGift you can select the saved account and you won't be asked to enter your card information again.
      4. If you saved your card, you'll be asked to create a PIN. Enter your same PIN two times to verify. Your PIN must be 4-6 numbers. Next time you choose this saved account, you'll be asked for the PIN to verify your purchase.
      5. Tap Create PIN.
      6. Tap OK.
  9. Tap Purchase.

You'll receive a text confirming that a purchase was made.

The account holder will receive an email that a purchase was made.

Adding a credit card for sending eGifts

When you add a credit card, buying eGifts is even quicker because you don't have to enter your card info each time. You can either add a new credit card from the Verizon Messages (Message+) main screen or when you're purchasing an eGift.

From the main screen

  1. Open the menu on the left of the main screen.
  2. Tap eGift catalog.
  3. Tap Settings icon on the right side of the screen.
  4. Tap Add a Credit Card.
  5. Enter your credit card information.
  6. If this is your first time adding a credit card, you'll be asked to create a PIN. You'll be asked for this PIN anytime you pay for an eGift with a saved credit card. Your PIN must contain 4-6 numbers. Enter the PIN two times to verify and tap Create PIN.
  7. Tap Add Card.

You've successfully added a new credit card for future payment. Next time you buy an eGift you'll be able to save time by selecting your saved card.

When sending an eGift

Refer to the instructions on how to Send an eGift. In step 8, follow the steps to pay with a new card.

Remove an eGift Credit Card

You can remove a saved credit card that you no longer want to use for eGifts. If you forget your credit card PIN, you'll need to remove all of your saved credit cards and then add them again. You'll be asked to create a new PIN when you re-add your card.

To remove a saved credit card, tap the Trash icon next to the one you want to delete.

Reset your eGift credit card PIN

You can reset your credit card PIN anytime in Verizon Messages (Message+). When you reset your PIN, your saved credit cards will be erased from Verizon Messages (Message+), and you'll need to add them again.

To reset your PIN:

  1. Open the menu on the left side of the screen.
  2. Tap eGift Catalog.
  3. Tap the Settings icon on the right side of the screen.
  4. Tap Reset PIN.
  5. Tap Change PIN.
  6. Enter your current PIN.
  7. Enter your new PIN.

You may change your PIN at any time. However, you need to know your current PIN to change it. If you do not know your PIN, delete all current card information to clear out the old PIN. Re-entering the credit card information will allow you to select a new pin.


Enable the Voice or Video Calling Feature on a Tablet

To enable Calling for a tablet:

  1. Confirm you have HD Voice on your line by going to your phone settings and following the steps below:

    1. Android: Go to Settings > Advanced Calling > Advanced Calling > switch should be on

    2. Apple: Go to Settings > Cellular > Enable LTE > Voice and Data should be selected

    3. Windows: Go to Settings > cellular+SIM > SIM Settings > switch should be on

      You can also check if HD Voice is on your line by going to the Products & Apps page in My Verizon on your computer or mobile browser.
  1. Download or update the Verizon Messages (Message+) app from the Apple App Store (for iOS devices) or the Google Play™ Store (for Android devices) on your tablet. You may have to follow the on-screen instructions to link the device to your smartphone.

  2. Provide your emergency address for the tablet when prompted. This location will be given to emergency services if you dial 911 from your tablet in case of an emergency. See the Emergency Address section in our FAQs for additional information.

    You can now make and receive calls on your tablet. Repeat steps 1-3 for each tablet you want to connect to your smartphone. You can connect up to five tablets total.
     

Enable the Calling Feature on a Smartwatch

Before using Verizon Messages (Message+) calling on your smartwatch, make sure your smartphone and smartwatch are both enabled for it. You'll need to make sure your phone's HD Voice feature is on and set up calling on your smartwatch.

Turn On the HD Voice Feature on Your Smartphone

Depending on your device, the steps to turn on HD Voice may vary.

Android:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap Wireless Networks.
  3. Tap Advanced Calling.
  4. The Activate Advanced Calling switch should be on.

Apple:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Tap Cellular.
  3. Tap Enable LTE.
  4. Voice and Data should be selected.

Windows:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Tap cellular+SIM.
  3. Tap SIM Settings.
  4. The switch should be on.

    You've successfully turned on HD Voice on your device.

You can also add HD Voice to your account by going to the Products & Apps page in My Verizon on your smartphone, tablet or computer. If it's already on your account, you can find it under the Manage My Products tab. If it’s not already on your account go to the Free Products tab to add it.

Set Up Calling on Your Smartwatch

Follow the steps below to set up calling on your compatible smartwatch:

LG Watch Urbane™ 2nd Edition

  1. Power the device on > swipe to begin > choose a language > pair to smartphone.
  2. Swipe the screen right until you see Calling Set Up.
  3. Tap the check sign to allow Verizon Messages (Message+) to manage phone calls on your wear device.
  4. Tap the check sign to allow Verizon Messages (Message+) to record audio.
  5. Tap the check sign to add an emergency 911 address. This location will be given to emergency services if you dial 911 from your wear device in case of an emergency. See the Emergency Address section in our FAQs for additional information.
  6. Tap the option to "make and receive calls from this app."

Turn the Voice or Video Calling Feature On and Off

Android

  1. Go to Settings in the top-left corner.
  2. Slide the Calling setting to on or off.

iOS

  1. Go to Settings in the top-left corner.
  2. Click Calling and then slide setting on or off.


Make a Voice or Video Call On Your Tablet

Once you have set up Calling, there are three ways to start a call from within the Verizon Messages (Message+) app on your tablet:

  • Go to the Dialer in the app to enter the phone number to call

  • Go to Contacts to pick a person or business to call

  • In a text message conversation select the phone icon in the top right to call that person

    NOTE: If the people that you are calling have HD Video calling enabled, you will be presented with the video icon as well as the phone icon. Users have the option to switch from video call to voice call during their conversation.
     

Making a Call on Your Compatible Smartwatch

Click on phone icon to make a call. You can choose which number to call using the following:

  1. Contacts list on your phone
  2. Recent Calls list
  3. Your phone's dialer

Update Your Emergency Address on a Tablet

Verizon Messages (Message+) for Android:

  1. Tap the menu on the top-left of the main Conversations screen.
  2. Tap Update My Address in the Calling setting.
  3. Here you can update your address.

Verizon Messages (Message+) for iOS:

  1. Tap the menu on the top-left of the main Conversations screen.
  2. Tap Calling.
  3. In the Calling menu, select Update Existing Address.
  4. Here you can update your address.
     

Disconnect a Tablet from Verizon Messages (Message+)

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Tap on Manage Devices.
  3. Select a tablet.
  4. Tap Remove.
     

Buy data and send it to another Verizon Wireless customer

With data gifting you can buy and send data as a gift to friends and family who are Verizon Wireless customers, right from your device. To learn more refer to the Data Gifting FAQs. To buy and send data:

  1. Open a conversation with the person you want to send a data gift to.
  2. Tap the Plus Sign next to the Type a message...field.
  3. Tap Gift.
  4. Tap the Verizon icon.
  5. Select how much you want to spend.
  6. You can write an additional message if you'd like. Tap Purchase to buy the gift.
  7. Enter your billing ZIP code.

You've successfully sent a data gift to someone with Verizon Messages (Message+).

Access Yelp®

You can find information and ratings about restaurants, coffee shops and other places right from Verizon Messages (Message+). To access Yelp through Verizon Messages (Message+):

  1. Tap + icon.
  2. Tap Places.
  3. Select the place you'd like to go.

You can then send this information to your friends, family, etc.

Note: If the recipient doesn't have Verizon Messages (Message+), they'll receive a link to information about the location.
