iPhone 6 and 6 Plus Settings

Tap Settings to manage and customize the features and apps on your iPhone 6 or 6 Plus. Turn on Bluetooth®, connect to a Wi-Fi network, enable Airplane Mode, adjust your Notifications and sounds, update your screen wallpaper and much more. Privacy and location services are also managed in Settings.

  1. Set up Touch ID

    Caution For the fingerprint scanner to operate, hands must be clean and free of moisture, dirt, oil, lotion, dyes, etc.

    1. From the Home screen, navigate: Settings > Touch ID & Passcode.
    2. Enter your passcode.
    3. Tap Add a Fingerprint.
      Note A maximum of 5 fingerprints can be added.
    4. Place finger over the Home button then follow on-screen prompts to capture fingerprint.
      Note Don't click the Home button during scan. If you receive the "Oops..." prompt tap Continue.
    5. When prompted with setup is complete, tap Continue.

     

    Note Notes:

    • To delete a saved fingerprint, tap the fingerprint name then tap Delete Fingerprint.
    • To edit a saved fingerprint name, tap the fingerprint name, update the info then tap Done.

    1. From the Home screen, navigate: Settings > Do Not Disturb.
    2. Tap the Manual switch to turn on Switch On or off Switch Off.
      Note When Do Not Disturb is turned on:
      • Calls and alerts that arrive while device is locked are silenced.
      • A moon icon appears in the status bar.
    3. Tap the Scheduled switch to turn on or off.
    4. If the Scheduled switch is turned on, tap the From To field.
    5. Set the From and To times then tap Do Not Disturb (located in the upper-left).
    6. Tap Allow Calls From.
    7. Select from the following options then tap Do Not Disturb (located in the upper-left):

      • Everyone
      • No One
      • Favorites
      • All Contacts
    8. Tap the Repeated Calls switch to turn on or off.
    9. From the Silence section, select one of the following options:

  5. Change the restriction settings

    1. From the Home screen, navigate: Settings Settings Icon > General > Restrictions.
    2. Tap Enable Restrictions.
    3. Enter then re-enter a restrictions passcode.
    4. Tap the switches (e.g., Safari, etc.) to turn on Switch On or off Switch Off.
      Note Any restriction set to off hides the corresponding icon on the Home screen.
    5. From the following sections, tap any of the categories then configure the desired options:
      • Allowed content (e.g. Ratings for, Movies, etc.)
      • Privacy (e.g. Location Services, Contacts, etc.)
      • Allow Changes (e.g. Accounts, Cellular Data Use, etc.)
    6. From the Game Center section, tap the switches to turn on or off.
      • Multiplayer Games
      • Adding Friends

  9. How to use Night Shift

    • Night Shift automatically changes the display output to warmer colors after dark.
    • If you are accessing Night Shift settings from the Control Center, begin with step 2.

     

    1. From the home screen, navigate: Settings Settings icon > Display & Brightness > Night Shift.
    2. To set up a time schedule for Night Shift, tap the Scheduled switch to turn on Switch on icon or off Switch off icon.
      Note You can also choose to start Night Shift immediately by tapping the Manually Enable Until Tomorrow switch just below the Scheduled section.
    3. Tap the From/To field then tap one of the following (enabled when a check mark is present):
      • Sunset to Sunrise
      • Custom Schedule
        Note If you choose this option, enter the start and end times just below Custom Schedule.
    4. Tap Back icon Night Shift (located in the upper-left) to return to the previous screen.
    5. If desired, slide the bar (near the bottom of the screen) to adjust the warmth of the colors.

    To free up space if your device runs slow or crashes/resets, apps freeze when running them, or you can't save media, view this info.

    1. From the Home screen, navigate: Settings > General > Storage & iCloud Usage.
    2. View any of the following:
      Capacity
      Total memory storage of device.
      Available
      Available memory on device.

    Note Notes:

    • Cache memory being used by your iPhone can be quickly dumped by turning your device off and then back on again.
    • To free up additional storage space, unused items may be removed from the device such as:
      • Apps
      • Music
      • Pictures or Videos
        • Deleted pictures and videos are moved to the "Recently Deleted" album and must be cleared to free up memory.

      2. View the IMEI number.
        Note If the IMEI can't be viewed from the device, refer to View Device Info - Verizon Wireless Website.

        Note You can also view the IMEI on the back of the device. A magnifying tool may be needed to the view the information.
