Factory Data Reset (Powered Off) - Samsung Galaxy Note® II

A factory data reset may help with a blank or frozen screen, apps crashing or freezing, keypad/touchscreen problems, can't hear, device making noises, can't make or receive calls, and device won't sync.

Caution Perform a factory data reset only if absolutely necessary as it removes all data including:

  • Google™ account
  • System and app data
  • App settings
  • Downloaded apps
  • Media (Music, pictures and videos, etc.)

 

Note Notes:

 

  1. Ensure the device is powered off.
    Note If screen is frozen, remove/reinsert battery.
  2. Press and hold the Home button Home button icon (located at the bottom) and the Volume Up button (located on the upper-left edge) then, while continuing to hold Home and Volume Up buttons, press and hold the Power button (located on the right edge) until the Samsung logo appears then release only the Power button.
  3. When the Android system recovery screen appears release all buttons.
  4. Select wipe data/factory reset.
    Note Utilize the volume buttons to highlight and the power button to select.
  5. Select Yes -- delete all user data.
    Note Allow several seconds for the factory data reset process to complete.
  6. Select reboot system now.
    Note Allow several minutes for the reboot process to complete.
    Note If applicable, set up your device.
