Initial Setup - Software Upgrade Assistant (LG)

Note Notes:

  • Here's how to install the LG Upgrade Assistant on your PC or Mac to use if an Over the Air software upgrade fails.
  • If the update fails to install, please refer to the Software Repair Assistant for further assistance.

Note Ensure the following system requirements are met prior to installation of the Software Upgrade Assistant (SUA):

  • Windows 2000 (SP4 or later), Windows XP (SP1, SP2 or SP3), Windows Vista or Windows 7 (with admin rights), Windows 8, Windows 10, Mac OS X 10.7 and later versions.
    Note The Mac version of the Software Update Assistant is supported for most newer LG Smartphones and tablets.
  • 1 GHz (or higher) Pentium-compatible processor with a minimum 256 MB of RAM.
  • At least 2.5 GB of available hard drive space.
  • USB cable
  • High-speed internet connection.
  • The most recent software version becomes available on the SUA/SRA tool within a week of a new software update. During this time, the SUA/SRA is unavailable for usage.

Windows

  1. Ensure the wireless device is powered on then connect it to a compatible computer using the supplied USB cable.
    Note If the device is not recognized immediately, pull down the notification panel to switch the device mode from "Charge Only" to "MTP", "File Transfer" or "Software Installation" mode.
  2. If presented, click Run VZW_Software_upgrade_assistant.exe then skip to step 4.
    Note If the AutoPlay pop up window is not available, open Windows Explorer (press Windows+E (windows key logo+E) keys) then click CD Drive: Verizon Mobile.
    Note If the software doesn't download from your device after plugging into your computer, download directly from LG's website.
  3. If downloading from LG's website, select 'Run' to load the software directly to the device or tap 'Save' to download the software update to your computer for a later installation.
  4. On the Welcome screen, click Next to continue.

  5. To continue, review the License Agreement and ensure "I accept the agreement" is selected then click Next.
    Note The device drivers are automatically installed upon accepting the terms of the license agreement.

  6. Click Install.

  7. Click Finish.

Macintosh

  1. Ensure the wireless device is powered on then connect it to a compatible computer using the supplied USB cable.

    Note The downloaded file can be found in the Downloads folder.
  3. Launch the Finder.

  4. From the Macintosh desktop, navigate Finder > Preferences.

  5. From the General tab, ensure the following items are selected:
    • Hard disks
    • External disks
    • CDs, DVDs, and iPods

  6. Click the VZWSoftwareUpgradeAssistant_Install icon on the desktop.

  7. Double-click the install.pkg icon.

  8. If prompted to check for compatibility click Continue.

  9. From the Software License Agreement screen click Continue.

  10. To continue installation, click Agree to the terms of the software license agreement.

  11. From the installation location screen, click Install.
    Note If prompted, enter your computer password then click Install Software.

  12. Click Continue Installation.
    Install Package
  13. When the installation process has completed click Restart.

  14. Click the Software Upgrade Assistant tray icon (located at the top-right).
    Click SUA-SRA tray icon to launch Software Upgrade Assistant
  15. Click Launch Assistant.
