Set Up Screen Lock - Samsung Galaxy Note® 3

Note Notes:

  • If using Microsoft® Exchange / Corporate sync, some screen lock options (e.g. Face unlock, Pattern, PIN) may be unavailable.
  • These steps can also be utilized to change your current screen lock setting.

 

  1. From a Home screen, tap Apps Applications icon (located in the lower right).
    Note These instructions apply to Standard mode only.
  2. From the Apps tab, tap Settings.
  3. Tap Lock screen.
  4. Tap Screen lock.
    Note If presented with 'This device does not have a Google account associated with it. If you forget your PIN, it cannot be sent to you and a factory reset will have to be performed to recover the device.', select Add Google account now to setup the account before proceeding to step 5. If desired to proceed to step 5 without setting up a GoogleTM account, select Continue.
    Note If presented, enter the current PIN, password or pattern.
  5. Tap one of the following:
    Swipe
    Signature
    Pattern
    PIN
    Password
    None

 

Signature

Note A signature is created then utilized to unlock the device.

  1. Using the pen, write the signature three times then tap Continue/Confirm.
    Note Signatures must match.
  2. From the Set backup PIN screen, enter a 4-8 digit PIN then tap Continue.
  3. Re-enter the PIN to confirm then tap OK.

Pattern

Note An unlock pattern is created then utilized to access the device.

  1. Tap Pattern.
  2. Draw an unlock pattern (connecting at least four dots) then tap Continue.
  3. Re-draw the pattern then tap Confirm.
  4. From the Set backup PIN screen, enter a 4-8 digit PIN then tap Continue.
  5. Re-enter the PIN to confirm then tap OK.  
  6. If presented, select which content to show or hide on the lock screen then tap DONE.

PIN

Note A PIN is created then utilized to access the device.

  1. Enter a numeric PIN (4-8 digits) then tap Continue.
  2. Re-enter the numeric PIN then tap OK.
  3. If presented, tap OK.
  4. If presented, select which content to show or hide on the lock screen then tap DONE.

Password

Note A password is created then utilized to access the device.

  1. Enter a password (4-16 characters) then tap Continue.
  2. Re-enter the password then tap OK.
  3. If presented, select which content to show or hide on the lock screen then tap DONE.
