Add a Virtual Private Network - Sony Xperia® Z2 Tablet

A virtual private network (VPN) encrypts your internet traffic and protects your online identity via a secured remote server and is most commonly used when remotely accessing company systems (e.g., company email, intranet sites, etc.).

  1. From a Home screen, navigate: Apps icon Apps icon > Settings.
  2. From the Wireless & networks section, tap More.
  3. Tap VPN.
  4. If presented with a lock screen notification, tap OK.
    Note Refer to Set Up Screen Lock (Pattern, PIN or Password only) for assistance.
  5. Tap the Add icon Add icon (upper-right).
  6. From the Name field, enter the appropriate name.
    Note Contact the VPN administrator for assistance with server information and credentials.
  7. From the Type field, tap the Dropdown menu Drop down menu icon ( right) then select the VPN type:
  8. Tap the appropriate VPN type:
    • pre-shared key (IKEv1)
    • pre-shared key (IKEv2)
    • certificate (IKEv1)
    • certificate (IKEv2)
    • EAP and certificate (IKEv2)
    • L2TP pre-shared key (IKEv1)
    • L2TP certificate (IKEv1)
    • SecurID (IKEv1)
  9. Enter the required information into the applicable fields then tap Save (lower-right).
    Note If applicable, tap (check) Show advanced options to configure the following:
    Note The available options vary depending upon the selected VPN type.
    • DNS search domains
    • DNS servers
    • Forwarding routes
