Software Upgrade Assistant (Motorola - Older Devices) - Initial Setup

Note Notes:

  • This shows you how to install the Motorola Upgrade Assistant on your PC or Mac if the Over the Air upgrade option on your phone fails.
  • If the update fails to install, refer to the Software Repair Assistant for assistance.
  • The most recent phone software is available on the SUA/SRA tool a week after a new software update. During this time, the SUA/SRA is unavailable.
  • For Motorola devices manufactured after 8/20/2013, refer to Initial Setup - Software Upgrade / Repair Assistant.

Note System requirements:

  • Windows XP and later or Mac OS 10.6 and later versions.
  • Minimum 750MB of available computer storage, USB cable and Internet connection.

Note Installation can also be completed from the Windows® or Macintosh® download sites.

  1. Turn your phone on, unlock it and connect it to your PC using a USB cable. An AutoPlay pop-up should open automatically on the computer. If not, the software can be downloaded at www.motorola.com/verizonsoftwareupdatewin.
    Note If available, ensure the CD-ROM feature is enabled on the device.
    1. From the device, swipe down on the status bar (located at the top).
    2. Tap Touch for other USB Options.
    3. Tap the Software Installation switch to enable Switch on.
  2. From the AutoPlay pop up window, click Install Verizon Software Upgrade Assistant for Motorola.
    Note If the AutoPlay pop up window is not available, right click on the start icon Start icon, then click Windows Explorer or File Explorer, then click CD Drive: Device Manager.
  3. Double-click MotorolaDeviceManagerSetup.exe.
  4. When prompted to download and install, click Yes.
  5. Once the download process is complete, click Next.
  6. Review the Terms and Conditions, click I accept... then click Install.
  7. When the installation process is complete, click Close.
  8. The Software Upgrade Assistant launches automatically. Follow the instructions to complete the software update.

  4. Once the download process is complete, click Continue.
  5. Review the Terms and Conditions then click Continue.
  6. Click Agree.
  7. Click Install.
  8. When the installation process is complete, click Close.
  9. The Software Upgrade Assistant launches automatically. Follow the instructions to complete the software update.
