Manage Data Usage - The new Moto X™

To change the data usage cycle on your device, view data usage and set data warnings and restrictions, view this info.

Caution Data usage info provided by the device may differ from actual usage. For data usage info provided by Verizon Wireless, refer to the My Verizon website.

Change Data Usage Cycle

  1. From a Home screen, tap Apps Apps icon (located at the bottom).
  2. Tap Settings Settings icon.
  3. Tap Data usage Data usage Settings.
  4. Tap the "Data usage cycle" dropdown menu (located above the graph).
  5. Tap Change cycle.
  6. Tap the appropriate date then tap Set.
    Note Refer to the My Verizon Website for billing cycle date.

Set Cellular Data Warning

Note A notification message appears upon reaching the specified data usage level indicated by the orange warning line.

  1. From a Home screen, tap Apps Apps icon (located at the bottom).
  2. Tap Settings Settings icon.
  3. Tap Data usage Data usage Settings.
  4. Tap Set cellular data limit to enable Switch on or disable Switch off.
  5. From the usage graph, touch and hold the orange dot located to the right of the warning line.
  6. Drag the Warning line to the desired level (e.g. 1.8GB) then release.

Set Cellular Data Limit

Caution Mobile data (cellular data) is disabled upon reaching the specified data usage level indicated by the red limit line. To continue to utilize apps dependant upon a data connection (e.g. browser, email, Google Play, etc.), a Wi-Fi connection can be used or Mobile data must be manually re-enabled (overage charges may apply).

  1. From a Home screen, tap Apps Apps icon (located at the bottom).
  2. Tap Settings Settings icon.
  3. Tap Data usage Data usage Settings.
  4. Tap Set cellular data limit to enable Switch on or disable Switch off.
  5. From the "Limiting data usage" prompt, tap OK to confirm.
  6. From the usage graph, touch and hold the red dot located to the right of the limit line.
  7. Drag the Limit line to the desired level (e.g. 2.0GB) then release.

View Data Usage by App

  1. From a Home screen, tap Apps Apps icon (located at the bottom).
  2. Tap Settings Settings icon.
  3. Tap Data usage Data usage Settings.
  4. Tap an app (located below the usage graph).
  5. View the usage info.
