Add a Virtual Private Network - Sony Xperia® Z3v

A virtual private network (VPN) encrypts your internet traffic and protects your online identity via a secured remote server and is most commonly used when remotely accessing company systems (e.g., company email, intranet sites, etc.).

  1. From the Home screen, navigate: Apps Apps icon > Settings > More.
  2. Tap VPN.
  3. If presented with a lock screen notification, tap OK.
    Note Refer to Set Up Screen Lock (Pattern, PIN or Password only) for assistance.
  4. Tap the Add icon Add VPN profile icon (upper-right).
  5. From the Name field, enter the appropriate name.
    Note Contact the VPN administrator for assistance with server information and credentials.
  6. In the Type field, tap the Dropdown menu Apps icon then select the appropriate VPN type:
    • PPTP
    • L2TP/IPSec PSK
    • L2TP/IPSec RSA
    • IPSec Xauth PSK
    • IPSec Xauth RSA
    • IPSec Hybrid RSA
  7. Enter the appropriate information into the following fields:
    Note If applicable, tap Show advanced options to configure the following:
    Note The available options vary depending upon the selected VPN type.
    • Server address
    • L2TP secret
    • IPSec identifier
    • IPSec pre-shared key
    Note Enabled when a check mark is present.
    • DNS search domains
    • DNS servers
    • Forwarding routes
  8. Tap Save (lower-right).
