Touch ID Setup - Apple® iPad®

Caution For the fingerprint scanner to operate, hands must be clean and free of moisture, dirt, oil, lotion, dyes, etc.

Note Notes:

  • The steps below apply to the following models:
    • iPad Pro
    • iPad (5th generation and later)
    • iPad Air 2
    • iPad mini 3 or later
  • To identify your iPad model and check for Touch ID capabilities, view this info.
  • For more help with Touch ID, check out this Apple Support page.

 

  1. From the Home screen, navigate: Settings Camera icon > Touch ID & Passcode.
  2. Enter the passcode.
  3. Tap Add a Fingerprint.
    Note A maximum of 5 fingerprints can be added.
  4. Place finger over the Home button then follow on-screen prompts to capture fingerprint.
    Note Don't click the Home button during scan. If you receive the "Oops..." prompt, tap Continue.
  5. When prompted with setup is complete, tap Continue.

 

Note To edit a saved fingerprint name, tap the fingerprint name, update the info then tap Done.
