Factory Data Reset (Powered Off) - Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 (8.0)

A factory data reset may help with a blank or frozen screen, apps crashing or freezing, keypad/touchscreen problems, can't hear, device making noises, can't make or receive calls, and device won't sync.

Caution Perform a factory data reset only if absolutely necessary as it removes all data including:

  • Google account
  • System and app data
  • App settings
  • Downloaded apps
  • Media (Music, pictures and videos, etc.)

Note An alternate reset method is available if the device can be powered on and is responsive.

  1. Ensure the device is powered off.
  2. Simultaneously press and hold Home Home button icon (located at the bottom) + Volume up (located on the right edge) + Power buttons (located on the upper-right edge above Volume buttons) until Samsung logo appears then release.
  3. From the Android recovery screen, select wipe data/factory reset.
Note Utilize the Volume buttons to highlight and the Power button to select.
  4. Tap Yes -- delete all user data.
Note Allow several seconds for the factory data reset process to complete.
  5. Tap reboot system now.
Note Allow several minutes for the reboot process to complete.
Note If applicable, refer to set up your device.
