Samsung Galaxy S® 6 / S® 6 edge - Add a Virtual Private Network

A virtual private network (VPN) encrypts your internet traffic and protects your online identity via a secured remote server and is most commonly used when remotely accessing company systems (e.g., company email, intranet sites, etc.).
 

Note Contact the VPN administrator from your organization to help with finding server info and credentials.

  1. From a Home screen, navigate: Apps Apps icon > Settings > More (Wireless and networks section).
  2. Tap VPN.
  3. Tap Basic VPN.
  4. Tap Add VPN (upper-right).
  5. If presented with a secure screen lock notification, tap OK.
    Note Refer to Set Up Screen Lock (Pattern, PIN, or Password only) for assistance.
  6. From the Name field, enter the appropriate name.
  7. From the Type field, tap the Dropdown menu icon Dropdown menu icon then select the appropriate VPN type:
    Note Below is a list of security protocols that you can use on VPN to protect and encrypt your data. Check with your system administrator to determine the preferred setting.
    • PPTP
    • L2TP/IPSec PSK
    • L2TP/IPSec RSA
    • IPSec Hybrid RSA
    • IPSec Xauth PSK
    • IPSec Xauth RSA
    • IPSec IKEv2 PSK
    • IPSec IKEv2 RSA
  8. Enter the appropriate info into the applicable fields then tap SAVE (lower-right).
    Note If applicable, tap Show advanced options to configure the following:
    Note The available options below determine how the VPN handles domain name and forwarding services and may vary depending upon the selected VPN type:
    • DNS search domains
    • DNS servers
    • Forwarding routes
