Manage Mobile / Wi-Fi Hotspot Settings - HTC One M9

To configure Manage Mobile / Wi-Fi Hotspot Settings (e.g., password, allowed devices, etc.), view this info.

  1. From a Home screen, navigate: Apps icon Apps icon > Settings > Mobile Hotspot & Tethering.
    Note If Settings is unavailable, tap the Dropdown menu Dropdown menu icon (located in the upper-left) then select Alphabetical. If still unavailable, refer to Manage App Icons.
  2. Tap Mobile Hotspot then select an option:


  1. From the Mobile Hotspot screen, configure the following settings as needed:
    • Hotspot Name (SSID)
    • Password
      Note Password can be changed.


Manage users

  1. To create a list of devices that can connect to the hotspot, tap Manage users.
  2. Tap Allowed users only to enable or disable.
    Note When enabled (checked), tap Allow or Block as users request access.
  3. Tap Max Connections to limit the number of connections (1-10).
  4. When finished tap DONE then tap the Back icon Back icon (upper-left).



  1. From the Mobile Hotspot screen, tap the Menu icon Menu icon(upper-right).
  2. Tap Advanced, configure the following then tap the Back icon Back icon (upper-left):
    • Hide SSID
      Note Enabled when a check mark is present.
    • Security
      • None
      • WPA2 (AES)
    • Wi-Fi frequency band selection
      • 2.4 GHz Band
      • 5 GHz Band
    • LAN settings
    • Power mode
      Note Sets how long before the hotspot will turn off after no activity.
      • Disable after 20 mins. of inactivity (default setting)
      • Disable after 30 mins. of inactivity
      • Disable after 60 mins. of inactivity
      • Always on
