Samsung Galaxy S® 6 / S® 6 edge - Manage Mobile / Wi-Fi Hotspot Settings

To configure Manage Mobile / Wi-Fi Hotspot Settings (e.g., password, allowed devices, etc.), view this info.

  1. From a Home screen, navigate: Apps Apps icon > Settings Settings icon > Mobile Hotspot and Tethering (Wireless and networks section).
    Note These instructions apply to Standard mode only.
  2. Tap Mobile Hotspot.
  3. Tap the Menu icon Menu icon (upper-right) then select an option:

Configure Mobile Hotspot

  1. Tap Configure Mobile Hotspot.
  2. From the Configure Mobile Hotspot screen, configure the following as needed:
    • Network name (SSID)
    • Hide my device
      Note Enabled when a check mark is present.
    • Security
      • Open
      • WPA2 PSK
    • Password
      Note Password can be changed.
    • Show password
      Note Enabled when a check mark is present.
    • If needed, tap Show advanced options.
      Note Enabled when a check mark is present.
    • When Advanced options are enabled, configure the following:
      1. Tap the appropriate Broadcast channel:
        • 2.4 GHz Band
        • 5 GHz Band
      2. Tap the channel Dropdown menu Dropdown menu icon then tap the appropriate channel (i.e. Auto, 1 - 11).
  3. Tap SAVE.

Allowed devices

  1. To create a list of devices that can connect to the hotspot, tap the Menu icon Menu icon (upper-right).
  2. Tap Allowed devices.
  3. Tap Allowed devices only to turn on.
    Note To add a device:
    1. Tap ADD (located in the upper-right).
    2. Enter the device name and MAC address then tap ADD.
  4. Tap the Back icon Back icon (lower-left).

Timeout

  1. From the Mobile Hotspot screen, tap the Menu icon Menu icon (upper-right).
  2. Tap Timeout.
    Note Sets how long before the hotspot will turn off after no activity.
  3. Select an option:
    • Never timeout
    • 5 min
    • 10 min
    • 20 min
    • 30 min
    • 60 min
  4. Tap the Back icon Back icon (lower-left).
