Verizon Smart Family™ - Android® - Add, Edit or Remove Parent / Child Roles

Note Notes:

  • Parent devices can monitor activity and contacts and manage limits for child lines.
  • Only 2 devices can be set as parent and the account owner is the primary parent.
  • To perform the steps below, you need to:
    • ensure the Smart Family app is installed on the parent device.
    • sign in to the app using a My Verizon user ID or mobile number that has Account Owner or Manager access privileges.
    • ensure the child device is powered off prior to adding or removing blocks, restrictions, limits, etc.

Add a Parent / Child Role

  1. From the Smart Family parent app, tap the Gear icon (upper-right).
  2. Tap Family settings.
  3. Tap Add family member.
  4. Select the desired family member or mobile number.
    Note Selected when a check mark is present.
  5. Enter a name then tap Save.

Edit a Parent / Child Role

  1. From the Smart Family parent app, tap the Gear icon (upper-right).
  2. Tap Family settings.
  3. Tap the desired name or mobile number.
  4. Tap Role, select a role then tap OK.
    Note The options presented vary for each mobile number.
    Note To enable a device as parent, the mobile number must be an Account Manager in My Verizon.
    • Parent
    • Child
  5. Tap Location sharing, select from the following options then tap Save:
    • Parents (Allows lines designated as Parents to view child's location)
    • All family members (Allows all family members to view child's location)
    • Not shared (Nobody can view child's location)

Remove a Parent / Child Role

  1. From the Smart Family parent app, tap the Gear icon (upper-right).
  2. Tap Family settings.
  3. Tap the desired name or mobile number.
  4. Tap Remove from Verizon Smart Family.
  5. Tap Remove.
