Create a Manual Dial-up Connection - Macintosh® OS X v10.5 - v10.6

Note VZAccess® Manager must be installed, refer to Downloading and installing VZAccess Manager - Macintosh for additional assistance.

  1. Ensure the device is connected to the computer.
  2. From the desktop, navigate: Apple > System Preferences.

  3. From 'Internet & Network', click Network.
  4. Click the plus icon + (located in the lower left).

  5. From the Interface dropdown menu, click the desired device (e.g. Novatel Wireless CDMA).
  6. Enter a desired Service Name (e.g. verizon) then click Create.
    Note Available Interfaces varies depending upon the device used, (e.g. Pantech USB Modem, Motorola Modem, etc.)

  7. From the Configuration dropdown menu, click Add Configuration.
  8. Enter a desired configuration name then click Create.
  9. Ensure the following settings are entered then click Advanced.
    • Telephone Number (may not be available for all devices):
      • #777
    • Account Name:
      • 10-digit mobile number @vzw3g.com (e.g. 9995551212@vzw3g.com)
    • Password:
      • vzw
  10. If a Modem tab is present, ensure the following settings are selected, click OK then skip to step 11.
    Note If the Modem tab is not present then skip to step 10.
    • Vendor:
      • Other
    • Model:
      • Select the model (e.g..Verizon 1xEVDO Modem Script)
    • Enable error correction and compression in modem:
      • Checked
    • Dial Mode:
      • Ignore dial tone when dialing
    • Dialing:
      • Tone
    • Sound:
      • On
  11. If a WWAN tab is present, ensure the following settings are selected then click OK.
    • Vendor:
      • Other
    • Model:
      • Select the model (e.g..Verizon 1xEVDO Modem Script)
  12. Click Apply.
  13. Click Connect.
