Allow / Deny Data Roaming - Windows® 8

Checking your data roaming settings can be helpful, especially if you're traveling internationally and have no network connection or can't send / receive email, text, pics or videos.

Note Enabling data roaming may incur roaming charges.

  1. From the right edge of the screen, swipe left to display the charms menu.
    Note If using a mouse, move the pointer to the upper or lower-right corner of the Start screen then move up/down.
    Note Alternatively, press the Windows+C keys ( windows key logo+C) located on the physical keyboard (if available).

  2. Tap or click Settings.

  3. Tap or click the Wireless network icon Wireless network icon.
  4. Ensure the 'Mobile broadband' switch is set to On Switch On icon then select the available wireless network (e.g. Verizon Wireless LTE).
    Note Depending upon personalization options, the switch color may differ from the example depicted above.
  5. Ensure that 'Connect automatically' is selected then select Roam automatically.
    Note The setting is selected (turned on) when a check mark is present.
    Note If the settings are not available, tap Disconnect then select the available wireless network again.
  6. Tap or click Connect to save the settings.
