This shows how to turn Wi-Fi on and off. If you're having trouble setting up or connecting to Mobile Hotspot, make sure Wi-Fi is off.
If your device is not running Windows 8, refer to Windows 10 for further instruction.
From the right edge of the screen, swipe left to display the charms menu.
If using a mouse, move the pointer to the upper or lower-right corner of the Start screen then move up/down.
Alternatively, press the Windows+C keys ( +C) located on the physical keyboard (if available).
Tap or click Settings.
Tap or click the Wireless network icon .
Tap or click the Wi-Fi switch to turn on or off .
Depending upon personalization options, the switch colors may differ from the examples depicted above.
For notebook computers (non-tablets), a physical switch may need to be turned on.
The device may not connect to 3G/4G if Wi-Fi is turned on.
Any apps or settings that are Wi-Fi reliant won't function while Wi-Fi is turned off.
