Manage Mobile / Wi-Fi Hotspot Settings - Samsung Galaxy S6 edge +

To configure Manage Mobile / Wi-Fi Hotspot Settings (e.g., password, allowed devices, etc.), view this info.

  1. From a Home screen, navigate: Apps Apps icon > Settings Settings icon > Mobile Hotspot and Tethering.
    Note These instructions apply to Standard mode only.
  2. Tap Mobile Hotspot.
  3. Tap the Menu icon Menu icon (located in the upper-right) then select an option:

Configure mobile hotspot

  1. Tap Configure mobile hotspot.
  2. From the Configure mobile hotspot screen, configure the following as needed:
    • Network name (SSID)
    • Hide my phone
    • Security
      • Open
        Note If presented with Warning screen, tap Continue.
      • WPA2 PSK
    • Password
      Note Password can be changed.
    • Show password
      Note Enabled when a check mark is present.
    • If needed, tap Show advanced options.
      Note Enabled when a check mark is present.
    • When Advanced options are enabled, configure the following:
      1. Tap the appropriate Broadcast channel:
        • 2.4 GHz Band
        • 5 GHz Band
      2. Tap the channel Dropdown menu Dropdown menu icon then tap the appropriate channel (i.e. Auto, 1 - 11).
  3. Tap SAVE.


Allowed devices

  1. Tap Allowed devices.
    Note Restricts which devices are allowed to connect.
    Note To add a device:
    1. Tap ADD (located in the upper-right).
    2. Enter the device name and MAC address then tap ADD.
  2. Tap the Back icon Back icon (lower-left).
  3. Tap Save.
  4. From the Mobile Hotspot screen, tap the device name (e.g. SM-G928V-xxxx).
    Note By default, xxxx are the last 4 digits of of the Wi-Fi MAC address.
  5. Tap one of the following:
    • Allow All devices
    • Allowed devices only



  1. Tap Timeout.
    Note Sets how long before the hotspot will turn off after no activity.
  2. Select an option:
    • Never timeout
    • 5min
    • 10 min
    • 20 min
    • 30min
    • 60 min
  3. Tap the Back icon Back icon (lower-left) then tap Save.
